hi and welcome to Bella gps in this
video we're going to be taking a look at
the routing and replanting options on
the garmin edge touring so to start off
we're going to select the Settings icon
here and we're going to have a look at
the routing options and you'll see that
we have the options select routing mode
which is currently set to cycling but
you can change that to tour cycling or
mountain biking should you wish
we next have the calculation method
which can be set to minimize distance
time or a sense we've chosen to minimize
distance lock on roads simply by setting
it on or off
if it's set to on it will lock the icon
which displays your position on the map
to the closest road on the map
going back to the screen we have
avoidance set up so you can choose it to
avoid either unpaved roads or narrow
trails and you just slide the button
across to activate and then finally we
have recalculation mode which can be set
to properties automatic or off so if
you're navigating a route and you
deviate from the roots the edge touring
can either prompt you as to whether you
wish to have the recalculated it can do
it automatically or you can have the or
function selected so go back to the main
menu
we're not going to have a look by
selecting the where to icon and
replanting so we'll select the route
planner and this funnily enough just
enables you to stop simple roots either
from A to B or with added way points in
between so we're going to start by
adding our first location and you'll see
that you can choose from your current
location save locations recent finds
that if we scroll down you can choose a
dress and then you can input a specific
address so i'm going to choose the
United Kingdom and then we can go into a
city or postal code so we're going to go
with a nearby village called crumble and
it's not qwerty keyboard so it takes a
little bit longer to type in she when
you get you see in the first place so
i'll take a little bit more time there
so crumble
there we go it's auto populated crumble
Hampshire and choose the house number
which we don't know so we're just going
to skip through that into the street
name which we know that there is a road
called pancreas street will find the end
it should also populate again
anchorage street ok and selecting that
and then displays that on a map and you
can zoom in and out on the map and
select use so that is our start point
so next I'm going to add our next
location of the game we're going to
scroll down and do it viral dresses in
the united kingdom
search for city postalcode we're going
to go with a nearby town called odium
which game should auto populate podium
Hampshire and the house number we don't
know again and street name we're going
to take a flyer and there should be a
high street in odium select that again
you can see on the map
so select use and we're going to view
our roots and it will calculate the
reeds
okay so there we can see the real
overlaid on a map and we can choose to
zoom in or zoom out and if you wanted to
review the elevation profile you just
click on the little icon here and that
shows you the elevation over the route
which looks reasonably flat for a little
slightly uphill and if we select right
his voice is going to tell us will give
us the option to simulate driving it
because we're set in demo mode at the
moment the gps is off so we're just
gonna we're gonna take that and just
have a look at how the on-screen
navigation looks so you can just see a
setting off there and it's just going to
pick up and move to the normal mapping
screen and we can see from this that
we've got a left turn
approaching in approx . . 15 miles which
is going to stick with that we
progressing slowly towards it because
what we should see is a turn alert
popping up as we get a little bit closer
so fast forward towards that now
there we go so we get a couple of beeps
we got a turtle head popping up with a
countdown of distance and time too . so
we're about five or six seconds away now
you'll just see it's making the turn
once we've made the turn the Tory will
return to the previous page that you had
displayed so we have the map display
previously and there's another turn
almost straight away so it's just
flipping up the next turn alert there as
well so that just gives you a flavor for
the route planning option but we'll take
a look now at round trip routing
ok so haven't returned to the main menu
we're just going to select where to -
take a look at the round trip routing
feature which is a neat little feature
on the edge touring that enables you to
set or calculate three round-trip troops
of specified distance based on a
specific start location
so if we look at distance here we can
choose as little as a few miles or
substantially more we've gone for ten
position to take too long to calculate
the roots so we select that and then we
select the start location which can
either be your current location or you
can use the map to select another
location so here we've chosen to go back
to our old favorite of kondal so we're
going to select use and then we simply
hit Search and the tour is going to
start calculating out three separate
approximately ten mile round trip roots
and they're going to be based on the
parameters that we looked at earlier so
if you recall we had to the cycle or the
cycling routing options selected but we
hadn't chosen to avoid anything like
unpaved Road so it's going to take into
account those particular options and
then we've got three reach the Pops all
approximately ten miles with a point 6
12 points
- and another eight mile route so if you
click on those routes you can then see
them displayed on the map and you can
zoom in and out if you wish or select to
view the elevation profile for that
route select one looks as though it's
got a bit of a bit of a hill in the
middle and you could have a look at the
profile on read two or indeed root 3
and again you can select go back and
look at the particular map there and the
right that really you simply click right
and when you are starting off years
click the start and stop button to start
recording that ride but because we've
got the GPS turned off and we're in demo
mode is giving us the option to simulate
simulate driving this route so neat
little feature there on the edge touring
