everyone welcome to the next tutorial in
series of the fmc or cpu programming
tutorial
my name is Josh them with any reviews ok
let's get started
if you for watch the cord and dr. Troy
and that you'll know that the aircraft
should already be set up and have
available power to it
so we're right now you can see our
screens are switched off
well we've got basic information but we
need the entire systems online so we're
going to do is we're going to pop open
the fmc the present shipped free and
there it is not his first thing we get a
couple
we got a message saying enter IRS
position this is basically because we
were like the IRS but it doesn't know
where we are in the world
so we need to tell it were a card
available which they are more gate seven
so we just we go ahead and we go to the
fmc in the top left the lights like one
day and this first page tells us the
information the model aircraft fine is
the 737 800 with 2 minutes as it says
their engine rated as 26,000 pounds of
thrust 26 k
I went up there which is the Air Act
cycle
currently we have what we have installed
this woman a woman oh wait sorry
and it's been active since July the
twenty eighth of august and the
operating system of the fmc is well
that's not very relevant
that's just part of the sim and that's
it
ok we can clear that first message to
enter our exposition because we're going
to try to do that so we pressed clear on
the bottom right
ok now it says join fmc operations
resort
that means basically the first officer
see and the captaincy are able to use
the fmc ok so we're going to pop over
the next page which is positioned
initialization the bottom right and
select ok we come to this page now first
thing on the Left which says a reference
airport
we are at car available so we get the
four code in the four codes of the icao
code of the Apple which for us is the is
echo golf Foxtrot Foxtrot for a car
available
another feature that's handy is if you
selected this scratch pad area this is
what it's called
we're all the information goes before
you enter into the MC
you can either use these letters and
numbers that are provided as you would
in the real world or to make easier fee
user on flights him
you can select here in a green bar with
it you can then type in your information
like a I like so like I could call
Foxtrot Foxtrot
ok right now this information is the
bottom left so we need to get it to
reference airport just hit the line
select next to their no pop into there
ok this information to the right of it
is its position in the world via
latitude and longitude
okay so we need to next one down is gate
which is gate seven so we just type 7
and we like to select it and what we do
now is this is set RS position these are
these boxes here and we basically need
the position of the aircraft in the
world right now in those boxes so to get
this information
all we have to do is go by gate 7 which
is really are and hit the right line
select next to that next year okay and
i'll put into the scratchpad so this
information is now ready to be copied or
tasted as you would in to this kind of
area so we just write down select Oh
says RS position and that it pops it and
now it's it's a line I not see now if we
are pop this out the way our system is
now online so we are the aircraft's
pretty capable
ok so pop that back into the center
the the next stage to do would be to
enter our route
so we go to the three page bottom line
select here it says remove our say we go
to the page so group
ok now we've got origin origin is where
we start obviously right now it's
currently in the scratch because it
knows where
cardiff so it's already the scratchpad
down here look so we just the lines like
that in
ok the next one is the destination yes
today we're going to go to echo
golf golf up our witches liverpool will
actually flying there by using it as an
example
ok so we talked on the line so that into
the scratchpad and we like to select the
interests
flight number now another thing to know
is if you have boxes
this is information the the flight
management computer needs you to input
and the . the dashed lines
this is information that can be inputted
for help and reference so like right now
we don't have to enter a flight number
the wrong way or Carew so we're being
apart flight numbering of genetic right
now
778 i'm going to like that
ok run when we can leave and I we don't
need to put them yet until we've given
it & Co route which is company room is
another feature added flies in
if you have a file sort of file saved on
the computer with the route already put
in it you can type in the code the name
of that route
don't get you would name it something
you can just type it into the scratchpad
like I don't know
GHI and then if you select that into co
route
it will then pop up the entire route and
save you a lot of time and effort
ok rights
so we've done that so we then go to the
next page which is here
ok we're ready to put our route in ok so
i've already got a route ready for me
and i will link the website i use which
i'm about to show you i will link that
in the description so you can use it for
future reference
ok so popular that there now ok so now
with the root page we have on the left
fire which is reserved for airways and
we have two which is the way .
ok so I've got my room already i will
link the link into the description where
to get where you can get root for free
and i'm just going to tell you what my
way . and airways are it's only what we
do first is we go
we start at Cardiff Airport which it
already is predetermined in the system
and then what we can do if i come down
to departures and arrivals and click
that of all this
we have called for the start and then we
have little here we go to departures
from Cardiff we have a SI DS which are
standard instrument partners which are
basically just root out of the airport
to make things easier for you have
control and pilots and to make a lot
make it a lot safer now my first room on
my well my first Waypoint on my rib
sorry is a broken so you know we would
find the determined
SI d which i'm going to use broken one a
by the wrong way
so if we choose what runway today we got
our trial which is going to be for me
really 12
we then got broken one Bravo available
so we're going to select broken one
brother ok and now if we take a look in
our aft / that we've got a nice blue
line which we can use these with this
this area up here or go through in just
a minute but we've got a blue line which
is coming out and this dash line here is
the the wrong way and they're going to
take off and going to come around this
blue line through these are small
waypoints and then it's going to link
this to our roots and our reward then
continue off to a miracle
ok so that's not selected we can go back
to the root page by the right line
select ok so it says we go buy a broken
one brother which is the SSID to break
in the way . the next thing is to enter
our next
anyway because it goes from we work left
to right we go from a fire in a way to a
way . to an airway the way . and so on
so this room is extremely short because
it's just college through voice of a
couple of hundred miles
ok so we didn't go from Brooklyn to
november eight six and four
I'll tie back to the line into the
scratchpad then we can't ok so this is
these boxes obviously are very important
and the mandatory so our next Waypoint
to enter there would be Monty which is m
0 and y so I'm going to then into the
scratchpad and nice like that in that is
actually the end of my moon my room is
very sure
so we see the next thing to do well it's
you can do this on the ground yet you
usually practice in the air but you
would then come back to the parties
arrival page you can go to Liverpool
icao and to the right of its a arrivals
she's slightly rivals and you have a
choice you have a all the navigation
approaches which is the islands which is
instrument landing system onto the
certain ways you've got a india and DVD
and if you press next page you just got
normal
so you can be back in things like that
ok so we're going to choose ls27 today
and I last way . if you remember it may
not actually be linked but if we
reference charts and things we can we
find out what to use
but we choose our relevant star to link
us onto that runway from our room
so we're you know i'm going to leave the
Alpha now because of that I have
got my child's name a reference there
and all that ok so back to the root page
and you'll notice there's a slight
problem right now there is a root
discontinuity and if we go to our legs
pages which is here next eight
we have the choice this is where i will
now describe i just closed on your
machine i'll describe this area here
this here has various functions
let's start from the top left we have
our around the perimeter
I'm going to have another brought with
her and we have certain functions to do
with the the navigation display
I'm going to go through them too much
but we have a sub functions like weather
radar here which is WX Allah that way .
airport data position to rain
what we're interested in is this rotary
knob here with the numbers on which is 5
10 20
so on - 6:40 this is our range viewing
over the end over the ND if we pop me
and Andy I'll make it look bigger to you
so right now we're looking at a very
weird angle ok this this triangle here
represents our aircraft identify press
position
his pulse show it done but you can't
really see it but that actually is the
position of the initial reference system
right now which is where the aircraft is
ok so what we do is if we best about
with these numbers and make it larger
we then zoom out and as you can see
resume in a very far and that blue line
and as our room it's blue because we
haven't executed yet which means
basically say yes we want that group
so you know go through the system and
definitely select on which it then
become a magenta line which is the color
of this line here which is heading
indicator
it's a kind of pinky
step in color ok so right now what we're
gonna do is we're going to come here to
the left on this knob and we have a few
functions which I VOR up
map and plan and select their from map
to plan to the right one
we got a sort of circles which indicate
our distance now this five obviously
means five miles 10 miles and so on
so if i go ahead and zoom out I can see
aircraft here to our position right now
I'm actually hovering directly in the
center / runway 12 to six which is this
first area here which is the start of
rfid probably fmc i will move across
I have this little function in the
bottom right which says step
all this does is if i press it we go to
the next Waypoint and then sent to that
and we can work our way along this way .
for every single different way . present
step until we find that the route is
completely secure and fun as I said we
had a root discontinuity in the root
page so we need to first search for this
discontinuity which basically means is a
gap and there it is
as you can see
whoops and come back here free then we
can go with my mistake sorry guys
ok so Monty is now centered and now
Monte if you remember is one of our it
was the end of our room onto the staff
onto the runway but I didn't choose a
star because i haven't programmed that
in properly
so basically what i want to do you want
to go from Monte to Liverpool airport so
what I need to do is I need to go back
to the root page here
press next page and he's a discontinuity
we've got some boxes it which means we
need to fill them in want to do is going
to come down below that the very first
Waypoint which is 59 DME line select
that to the right and it will come into
a scratch pad then we click on the line
select of the discontinuity of the boxes
and it will then replace it and if you
look now we have a blue line going all
the way across and if we work on to the
next page and if we step through an out
we have a complete route
and if we look there it goes straight
through to meet on rock now Monty and
this Monte to add to the airport there
and we even have a missed approach
programmed in there is a back to the
root page and we have it
that's that then ok so now we are ready
to activate that route
so you know if we go
so that looks okay we'll check off and
that's fine next page there we go
so all our way . and our Airways are in
and we even got a missed approach
program for is to sell so we can press
activate which is the line inspect and
then we have a little light here that
comes up under above execute
so we can press execute which basically
means for into the put into the system
so if we pop this open now you'll notice
it's gone from a blue line to a bold
pink line if we look there
ok so that route is now programmed in
today from see and it's valid and we can
use it next page is the perfect in it
page so we go across this and what we do
now is we work away from the left
gross weight and crew C of G so we want
to find a gross way you usually do this
by going in
you can use various ways it depends how
you programmed flight so you know with
with the ngx program did you can you can
just find it so you'd find your gross
way and you enter in that ok so then you
under this you would go to 0 if your way
now mind with the ngx of certain
features built-in is it calculates all
for you and you can just line selected
reserve your way and it will then tell
you what it is which is one to one
that's my life from it and you can just
select them and that will then
automatically put micros way and my crew
CEO of GM which is hundreds example 5
and 19 . one percent
ok moving down reserves I want five five
thousand pounds of fuel for when I come
into their ball in case i have missed
approach is all i have to do that
so it's like that in cost index its
berries
i'm going to use a hundred easy to use
that as an example it's just something
on use for around official purposes
it's to do with fuel and the my fuel use
and things like that and system
ok so what does then is actually
calculates our best flight level and
that was be eleven thousand five hundred
and eighty feet for us but we already
have a predefined crews out dude i've
used to 60 for the day so I then put -
60 which is flight level because of the
transition that we don't use just 26,000
feet anymore use flight levels so it's
just basically divided by a hundred i
believe
okay so we just bounce like it
ok
it was saying available crews are you
with us ok for me because i'm actually
doing the flight i would correct this if
I was always going to be valve enough
ok then tells us allowing for
information like the international
standard atmosphere deviation top of
cruise outside air temperature is minus
43 degrees Fahrenheit - Faye six Celsius
transition altitude for the day's 18,000
feet and well you can look up all that
means basically it's just the altitude
at which you're out of your out of
control of the aspects and basically you
can reset your pressure to standard the
on the Brahma they become standard you
don't have a local q HR q FP and speed
restrictions change
no sorry that's 10,000 feet when you can
go above 250 knots and now the next
pages and one limit which is basically
our engines so we can do is a top left
we can select a we can get our
temperature which is outside air
temperature if if it's something like 23
degrees we can type in 23 and put it
into there and it will change our
information to do with the ended and
okay so we're gonna leave it because
it's really calculate the 15 degrees
outside
now we have a selection of the rates
which are basically power set for the
engine so we've got 26,000 pounds of
thrust 24 22 and 27 or we can select our
own find which is up in this this select
oh wait outside air temperature ever
today we're going to use a 24 kb rate so
I like to live next to that and that
would be on this on the climb
see i'll be here and that selected as
well but I'm not like we can also do
when we can also do climb performance
and we can do various stages of
different d rates but we're not gonna do
that because this short route
ok so it's 24 KD rate on the n1 shaft
speed which is the very front founder of
the engine and it's not a four point six
percent on the m1 of frost
next up that's ready so we got to take
off page now and mandatory we need to
enter the flap setting which standardly
as five degrees but it's all calculated
and you have to use for your things like
that into accordance with it and runway
and things out that today we're going to
use five and then select that in right
now we need to know what our center of
gravity years for this flight so if we
go out to perform a slider
initialization we can find out that our
gross weight so I'm not 19.1 percent is
after 22 hours and / hundred is 260 cg
so if we go back to take off 19.1
another want to do is going to test it
is if you line select next to cg this is
a cheating way
it will tell you 19.1 it's already
calculated in the day late at the agency
so it's already nine to 11 and we just
like that in now that would tell us now
why didn't cover in the Latimore's trim
of the elevator trim tabs says hit see
of Jesus 19.1 send an hour trim is 6 .
free units so we didn't want to zoom up
well i was just closed down so 6 . free
for unit so we come down to the pedestal
and we've got a this large wheel here
which actually controls the elevator
trim all this does is the easiest
pressure off the pilot things like this
for holding back control column
he doesn't have to sit there hold it
back for the entire Client gonna set it
to about six months free free
it's spelled out there
and that's not set so I elevator is now
set for take off like to the fmc she's
three
we then after the rock it off to the
right we have relevant information
now you let you see a couple of numbers
here which is 150 150 156
these are the quick reference handbook
numbers for our takeoff at the moment I
would take off speeds
let's go through these simply and fast
v1 actually indicates and the speed at
which you're committed to the takeoff so
if there's an engine failure you cannot
take off if you're above 150 knots as as
the great reference handbook as toddlers
the be
we r which is V rotate v indicates
velocity by the way these are just V
codes rotate is the point at which the
pilot rotates the aircraft ready to take
off and having to is actually the safety
speed at which the aircraft can take off
with one engine improve so yet
that's just safety speed so if we just
select here or put in and the take-off
weight is calculated at 16 7.5 as I've
enjoyed the things i love it helps if
you have any young any comments or
questions just comment or seeming over
to my facebook my Twitter and I'll also
link the website i used for my room
thanks
