Use Barcode Scanner to Track Attendance in PROMIS

The very affordable bar code scanner solution is idea for track attendance in PROMIS. The scanner we recommend is Motorola Symbol LS 2208 barcode scanner which costs between $100 - $150. You can print the barcodes onto Avery 5160 Address Label and then paste them onto a plastic card or a business card alike. You can also print them out to regular paper and then cut them into smaller rectangular shape. It is extremely cost effective to for generating these barcodes.

hello everyone in this video I'm going
to show you how to use a barcode scanner
like this one to track attendance in
promise once you open up
they promised scanner screen and hook up
your your scanner and you scan the code
the barcode that represents a child in
this case you can see the barcode on top
of the bar code is the child's name and
on the bottom of the barcode is
a-actually numeric personal ID in
promise and in the middle that's a
barcode so very simple i have my scanner
setup and all i have to do is there are
three children who are currently sign in
in the classroom here okay and now i'm
going to sign in the next child by
scanning that child sparkled here we go
now you see the fourth child just signed
in i'm going to sign one more the my
fifth child in the classroom just signed
it
alright so you can actually see how many
children currently are currently signed
in in this classroom
alright let's now take a look at the
process how to setup were how to
configure a scanner so that it will be
ready to be used for our attendance
scanning feature the one that we use we
or we recommend to use is is a scanner
from motorola the model number is symbol
ls2208 the one that we got is a USB
based so that means all you have to do
is plug this scanner with the USB port
plug it into your computer and right
after you plugged in your computer
scanner makes a bunch of noise beeping
noise that means it is connected to your
computer and after that you want to scan
the first factory code that is a USB
keyboard ambulation the actually the
second bar code under the USB section
you're telling the scanner that it is a
USB base and it going to use the hid
keyboard ambulation so that is the
second bar code under the USB section
and this piece of paper came in with the
scanner from the factory so I'm going to
do the first sparkle
so that's my first bar code which is it
hid keyboard emulation under us be the
next one step two which is final step 4
hours configuration is to scan they
enter key sequence so there's another
one down here to add a tab key
you don't need that you don't need to
add a tab key sequence all you need to
add is a the adda in Turkey sequence
where you will find three particles one
two and three and you need to scan them
in this sequence so this is what I'm

number two and number three
alright so now my scanner is ready to go
now sometimes for some reason if you
scan the run code their own sequence
your scanner might be the configuration
of your scanner might be messed up so
what you can do is there is a bar code
that you can scan to reset your your
your scanner back to the factory factory
default that is on the back of this
sheet and on the top there is a section
called step defaults there's a bar code
over here you want to scan this code
when you after your scan this code the
scanner configuration is set back to
factory default and from there you can
you can run your the configuration
setting again the first step
USB keyboard emulation and the enter key
sequence over here and this would be
particularly very useful if you're
getting a used scanner that has been
used for other applications or other in
other situations and you want to hear
everyone really want to what is reset it
to factory default and then run the
required sequence here again before you
use the scanner was promised attendance
ok let me now show you how to print out
those barcos as the promise report the
name the report is children ID barcode
and the way you can find it is just in
the report search filter type in bar
cold and search and that report should
pop right there it is the children ID
barcode avery 5160 ok here is the report
on the barcode report how it looks like
after you printed out it has three
columns and eventual roles and each bar
code has three parts in it the top part
is the name of the child the middle part
of the upward of course the barcode and
then the bottom there you see a
numerical representation of the barcode
which is actually the promise person ID
in addition printing to the every
address label 5160 you can actually
print this report this barcode reports
to a stock paper and then you can cut
them into individual cards on with a
paper cutter or a pair of scissors on
and that way you can save money as well
for these this stock papers are cheaper
than the Avery address labels on anyway
