UCS Tech Talk: Introducing IMC Supervisor for Standalone C-Series and E-Series Servers

Join Cisco for a discussion on the features and capabilities of the new Cisco Integrated Management Controller (IMC) Supervisor. This new software was developed to provide centralized monitoring, inventory and basic management functions for select standalone C-Series (M3/M4) and E-Series Servers (M1/M2). snapshot of current

all the faults reported across
all systems I we can see
this state have the each up the I am
sees
so I in this case we've got some systems
that are good a majority of our systems
but others that are showing up mater
all nuts as reported by the system
itself so if you log into the C series
server you start you sorry server used

whole status in the upper left that's
what we're capturing here
we have firmware I that's the draft in
the upper right
showing that we have most of our systems
on the latest release but we do have a
a variety of other releases available i
running on the system's in our
environment
in the bottom left we have the platforms
that that we're monitoring at current
and then
ad below I guess middle of bottom we
have the power state so all over systems
at this point on
and then we have a snapshot noble not
only up the total number systems under
management but we also have the number
up critical faults
across those assess that so we have one
server with the critical fault

the
platform name on the product id:
the host name but we also have details
serial number
so if you want to export the data here
and out look at maybe which servers R&R
not under a support contract
or give a snapshot find a particular
server with a serial number

your environment that something that you
can you quickly and easily

%uh the various elements I love the
environment including
a description that you've provided at
the firmware version it's running on the
system and and far off to the right
we'll get that this a little bit later

capabilities to
the KVM viewer including power controls
chat recording and so these capabilities
I are available directly from the
the KVM console we have the ability to
I'll attacks the media for instance so
in many cases we are seeing
administrators go to you
the IMC when really what they wanted is
access to the KVM in with short
added that top that short-circuited that
process for them
to be able to launch echoecho VM session
from here now already mentioned
inventory so
in the past we were single clicking I
let's go ahead double-clicking dive down

different options for the various
components within the system
at a summary level you can see

the major subsystems I get a snapshot

the hostname the serial number
all the details that I might want to add

for processors and I get some of the
attributes about each it does
I get details on memory and

and again if I wanted to export this at

option
up in the upper right hand that right
hand corner with the icon power supplies
we can see the stator those supplies
the PCI adapter so I can see that in
this case I've got a Broadcom Alice I

we have a dedicated tab for the Cisco
bit not allow us to

those physical drives

virtual drives and the sizes are told

Platform Module TPM

so we look at the whole table in this is
a listing at the current faults on the
system it looks like we've got

the IMC login this isn't the audit log
in to this system so we can see all the
authentication I against the
on against the system whether they were
successful or failed
and some additional information and
think that that we wanted to dig into

ability to directly from this interface
declare this all logs
so we do have that all I'm not gonna
clear
for now but I do have the ability and
