Use Calibre to convert pdf ebooks and remove kindle drm

You can use the excellent Calibre program to convert ebooks to different formats. If you want to convert Kindle or Barnes Noble ebooks, you will have to install plug ins because these books are protected by DRM

okay i'm going to show you how to
convert books using caliber that caliber
is a brilliant program brilliant fella
best in the world as far as i know you
start off by going up to the top here
and click on add books and then you
would want to find a book that you would
want
let's see to convert and i'm going to go
here grab a book
ok this one happens to be in lit format
ok as you can see it's been added up
here so i'm going to click on that and
now i'm going to go up and click on
convert books now in the upper
right-hand corner here you can see that
you've got if you click on the down
arrow quite a list of different formats
let's say I want to make a text file i
would click on text and then on the left
side there are lots of customizations
you can use to set up how it's going to
look when you're done there on page
setup you can set up the pages for a lot
of different devices including the
kindle and nook bottom line is when
you're ready to convert you click OK and
now in the bottom right hand corner
you'll see jobs and it'll say one and
they'll be a little spinning wheel and
when the wheel finishes spinning which
can take anything from a few seconds up
to a few minutes the the book is
finished converting i'm going to go
ahead and pause the video here while
it's good
ok the book is finished converting so
what i can do is that can go up here to
that book and I can right click and go
to open containing folder and now I can
move my divider and you see here that
it's got Earth's children
and it's now in text format so i could
highlight that go to edit and i can copy
it or cut it and paste it wherever I
wanted to go now i do want to mention
that you can use calibre to convert
kindle books and convert the barnes and
noble epub books two different formats
you have to remove the so-called drm and
sort of the password protection it's
possible to do with using caliber and so
if you if you do a Google search on
remove drm Kindle there are what are
called caliber plugins if you go to
preferences and click on that at the
bottom you'll see plugins and you can
actually install plug-ins that will do
the job for you or removing that
password protection so you can read your
kindle books anywhere you want or you
can read your Barnes & Noble books where
