How to Resize Photos: Image Resizer for Windows 7

Betty A. Walker, http://www.wiseweblady.com - in this video I show you how you can use Windows 7 to easily resize multiple photos at one time. A lot of times when we take pictures with our camera we want to email them as attachments or upload them to a webpage, and the photos that our cameras take are usually a lot larger than we would want to use for email or our websites.

If you ever used Windows XP, you might remember that it had a "resize picture" option when you would view thumbnails of your pictures on your PC. It was nice and handy because you could select several different photos and then right-click on the thumbnails and choose "resize pictures" and tell it what size you wanted to reduce the photos down to.

The other nice feature about this option was that we could select several picture at once and then easily resize all of them at the same time.

Well, there is an Image Resizer that is available for you to add to your Windows 7 computer, and you can download it here:

http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/rele...

Just click on the Image Resize download - you'll most likely want the 64 bit version, but don't worry if you download the wrong one, your computer will tell you when you try to install it and you can just come back to this page and download the correct one.

Once you download it, just click on the .msi file that you downloaded, and it will automatically install it onto your Windows 7 computer for you.

Now when you browse to your photos, you can select multiple pictures and then right click and select "resize pictures" from the right hand menu.

You'll see some standard sizes that they give you to select from, small medium large and mobile sizes. The small is usually fine for emailing or webpages depending on what you're looking to do with them - or you can select "custom" and put in either a width or a height for the photos and it will automatically resize them to your selection for you.

Once you click the OK button, you'll see that a new photo has been added to the folder where your original is, and it now has appended something like "custom" or "small" to the name - depending on what selection you made during the resize. And if you selected more than one photo to be resized, you'll see it automatically created resized photos for all of them that you selected.

Now, you can select those resized photos to send with your email or upload to your webpage and you'll be all set!

hi I'm Betty Walker the wise web lady
and I'm going to show you how you can
use windows seven to easily resize
multiple photos at one time a lot of
times we take pictures with our cameras
we want to email those as attachments or
maybe upload them to a webpage and the
photos that are cameras tape are usually
a lot larger than we would want to use
for sending an email or upload into our
websites if you've ever used windows XP
you might remember that it used to have
a resize picture option when you would
view thumbnails such as these
if you would right click on that there
used to be something on here said resize
pictures in windows 7 that doesn't
standard really come with it when when
you have windows seven installed on your
pc so i'm going to show you how you can
get that with windows seven so that you
can have the same same feature and get
that back
the nice thing about it is that what you
can do is you can go ahead and select
multiple files if you hold down your
control and you can select multiple
files and you can resize all of those
all at the same time now of course if
you wanted to you could open up these
photos and you could open it with paint
or maybe photoshop or whatever you might
have in here and you could resize it
that way but typically when you do that
you have to do those one of the time so
what this lets you do is let you do
multiple ones and you can resize it all
at once where you can
get the resizer it's an image resizer .
codeplex dot-com / releases / view / 30
to 47 and what you'll see when you get
there is an image resizer for windows
this is a special one that they have
that you can download for windows 7
comes in two different version there's
either 32-bit or 64-bit typically you're
probably going to want to download the
64 bit if you download the wrong one and
you try to install it windows is going
to tell you that so if you were the one
you've downloaded isn't the one that you
happen to need for your computer then
just come back here and redownload the
other one you can follow the
instructions for this it only takes a
minute to go ahead and install that once
you have it installed then when you go
out and browse for your pictures and i'm
going to select a couple of different
ones here so that we can have multiple
ones picked so we've got three here if I
right click on any one of the thumbnails
now you'll see that you're going to have
the same thing that I do you're going to
have resize pictures show up in this
right-hand menu if you click on that
it's going to ask you what size you want
to resize those two it comes with three
defaults the small medium large actually
for there's one for mobile device and it
automatically resizes them to 854 x 480
or whatever the sizes are smallest being
that mobile device which is 320 x 480
depending on what you're looking for
especially if it's for your webpage you
might want to have a custom size that
you want to do so you can have you can
select custom here if you don't happen
to see this custom it might be that
you're actually in basic mode so just go
ahead and click advanced to the bottom
and you'll see this open up
if you select Custom you can make this
any size that you want like if you
change this to be 250 wide then you can
go ahead and resize this pictures to
that size
so you'll see what happened when i
selected that I didn't ok and now we
have a second copy of each of those
pictures and they come up with custom
after it because what i selected was the
custom resizing if you have selected
large or medium or small you can see
that part of it come up so just that
easy now we have two different pictures
we have the original and we have one
that has custom after which is smaller
which is a much better size that you
might want to send an email or put up
onto your website so you can go ahead
and do multiple ones like that and
you'll be all set
