transcribe the video and evil for mac
the process is the same for transcribing
audio description is often the first
step and analyzing recordings of
interviews or focus groups imagine
you've already imported a video
recording using this option on the data
tab if you already have a transcript you
can import it using this option
use the player controls here to play
pause and rewind or adjust the playback
speed you can watch the video here here
on the timeline you can see a waveform
the playhead shows you where you are
along the timeline you can use these
controls when you are transcribing for
example to add or remove rows in the
transcript now before you start
transcribing make sure you're in edit
mode
next select your preferred play speed
for transcribing for example you might
want to slow down the speed to make it
easier to transcribe
check the position of the playhead in
this case i want to go to the start of
the video
then click here to add a row to the
transcript

seeing as you listen
to make this process even easier you can
use keyboard shortcuts for example press
f8 to play or pause f7 to skip back or
f9 to skip forward or simply use the
media controls on your keyboard if you
have them
click here when you want a new road for
example when the speaker changes if you
prefer you can use the keyboard shortcut
when you create a new row the end time
for the previous row is updated
you can also enter the speaker's name in
this column
and here is the complete transcript you
may want to review the transcript and
correct any mistakes
for example you can select this option
if you want to synchronize the video
with the transcript this means as you
play the media the transcript stays in
sync
you can also review
transcript look in the row you want to
review and click here to play the
corresponding media
you can also select this option if you
want to repeatedly play a section of the
video having a text transcript of your
recordings can bring you closer to your
data you can reflect on the content and
code selected passages at nodes for more
information on working with transcripts
