hello and welcome this is my first video
this is evan from ek bookkeeping and
today we're going to look at how to
customize invoices and quickbooks so
we're on the quickbooks homepage and
today the topics will be covering will
be as follows will be adding a logo or
your logo onto an invoice will be adding
a due date box which is an in standard
service and voices will change the font
color and we'll add the company address
to start we need to go into create
invoices will do that by clicking the
create invoices icon now once we're in
this screen we want to go to formatting
where the formatting tab isn't click on
that and we can look at preview real
quick to see what it currently looks
like and as you can see it's just like
any other standard service invoice
there's the invoice number the date
invoice to that will be where you're
sending the invoice is a p.o number
terms a project number qty the
description will look at that in later
videos well show you how to create an
invoice will close this right now the
next step would be to make these changes
that we want so we want to be in
customize data layout which is still
under formatting so we'll click on that
now
quickbooks us can ask you to make a copy
basically if you make changes to their
existing templates it could mess things
up and you really don't want to do that
so we're going to go ahead and make a
copy right okay
the additional customization screen
opens up and as you can see up here
we've made a copy of the service invoice
and so now there's two things you want
to take note of here on the Left we've
got the title the date invoice number
and a whole lot of other things and
basically this determines what your
invoice will look like and on the right
you can see the preview and its visual
representation of what is currently
going on and basically what we looked at
just a couple seconds previously
so there's a couple things we don't want
to touch were happy with it like the the
title which is invoiced just find eight
is fine invoice number is fine invoice
to you obviously want to send the
invoice to the person you're building
then there's a couple of other things
down here that we really don't need so
we can remove them in this case so the
people number we don't really need that
we don't really need the terms now one
of the things we talked about earlier
was the due date on a standard invoice
they don't include that and I think
that's an important thing that your
customers will want to see so we're
going to check off these two boxes we
scroll down further
there's also the project which again we
don't need now if we look on the right
it looks ok but there it's sort of in no
man's land here so we can we can fix
that we're going to click down here at
this layout designer and make a couple
of subtle changes
now the nice thing about this is that
you can move boxes around and make
things a little bit neater than they are
currently so just make that a little
smaller move hopes that one up here as
well
I think we're okay so now everything is
look at a quick preview of this right
now so everything is in a better space
things are it looks a lot more
professional than it did before we still
have a couple of other improvements to
make it close this and now the next step
is to go into basic customization so
look on that like i mentioned we want to
add a logo so you can do this by going
under logo and font and clicking this
box I've made a local for example
company here so click on that click open
and as you can see on the right it
appeared now the next couple of things
might be more personal preference but I
mean you can definitely do it
we've got some green in our logo so we
can change the scheme as the entire
invoice by clicking on this drop-down
menu and we're going to choose green
because we have green in our logo and
then click on apply color scheme and
then we'll look at a quick preview right
now so as you can see we've got our
green theme in our green logo close that
last thing you want might want to do is
we don't have our company address up
there right now and that can go right
next to the logo so if we scroll over
here to company and transaction phone
you can click on the box that says
company address and that's there and the
other thing you might want also is this
Prince status stamp you might want that
when looking back and seeing if invoices
have been paid and whatnot so we're
going to check that box off as well
now again we can look at a quick preview
and as we can see the logos there the
address is there we've got the important
things that we need on any invoice which
is the date the invoice number the due
date the invoice to when will work on
the rest once I show you how to create
an invoice in the next video and again
if you feel that you what you've made
changes but you don't are unhappy with
the changes you can always go back here
to manage templates select and there's a
delete option so you can always delete
something if you're not happy with it
so that's been today's video I hope you
enjoyed it please leave a comment and i
appreciate any any feedback as this has
been the first video so thank you very
much
