Install ESET Remote Administrator and configure a Mirror server (5.x)

This tutorial demonstrates the installation and initial configuration of ESET Remote Administrator 5.x, including how to configure a Mirror server. For written instructions, see the following Knowledgebase article:

STEPS:

1. Download and install ESET Remote Administrator.

2. Set up a Mirror server.

3. Create an installation package.

4. Push installation package out to client workstations.

in order to download and install ESET
Remote Administrator you'll need your
ESET issued username and password as
well as your ESET issued license file
to begin download the ESET Remote
Administrator server and console
installer files to do so
open a web browser and go to www.hsn.com
from our website click download
then click the tab labeled for business
now scroll down
click remote management
and then click download next to ESET
Remote Administrator server select your
operating system from the drop-down menu
then click download
you will be prompted for your ESET issue
username and password which you received
via email after purchasing your license
after entering your credentials click
save and save the file to your desktop
when the download is complete click
close
repeat the same process to download the
ESET Remote Administrator console
when both downloads are complete
navigate to your desktop and
double-click the ESET Remote
Administrator server installer file
follow the steps in the installation
wizard
in the license key window import the
license file that was attached to the
email you received from ESET after
purchasing your product though you can
click Next and skip this step you will
need to import a license file in order
for ESET Remote Administrator to
function properly
to upload your license file click browse
and navigate to your license file
once you have imported it click Next
in the updates window select the
checkbox next to set up date parameters
later
and click Next
now double-click the ESET Remote
Administrator console installer file to
begin installation
click finish to complete the
installation and launch the ESET Remote
Administrator console

to begin enter your server password to
log onto the ESET Remote Administrator
server
in the ESET Remote Administrator console
click tools
server options
and then click the update stabbed
there are two methods for configuring a
mirror server
method 1 recommended by ESET is to
configure the mirror server as an
internal HTTP server
to begin enter your ease that issued
username into the update user name field
and then click set password to enter
your ESET issued password
select the checkbox next to create
update mirror
and click update now
when the update is finished downloading
click OK
the second method for configuring a
mirror server is to set it up as a
shared network folder
to proceed with this method you must
first create a shared folder on a local
or network device it is important to
note that this folder must be readable
by all users running ESET software and
writable by the local system account
to begin click tools
server options
and click the update tab
select the checkbox next to create
update mirror
enter your ESET issued username into the
update user name field
and click set password to enter your
password
enter the path of the local shared
folder into the folder to store mirrored
files field
and then click update now
when the update is finished downloading
click OK
