order to use backtrack you'll need a
stereo or other audio playing device
with the headphone out or audio out a
computer that has a microphone input or
a line in and a cable to connect the two
if you don't have a cable you can
purchase one at the link where it says
by cable now we'll be using a standard
3.5 millimeter audio cable usually
referred to as an eighth inch cable most
computers and stereos will accommodate
this type of cable once we connect the
cable from your stereo to your computer
you're ready to begin converting locate
the headphone jack on your stereo and
plug one end of the cable in in most
cases the headphone jack will be labeled
phones or headphones and may have an
icon of headphones next to it
next locate the microphone input for the
line and put on your computer most
microphone inputs will have an icon like
this and most line inputs will have an
icon like this plug the other end of the
cable into your line in or your
microphone in once the cable is securely
connected press play on your stereo
click the test record button here and
adjust your stereos volume so that the
sound level is generally higher than 25
for best results make sure you don't
hear any distortion if you hear
distortion you should turn your stereos

when the test record time limit is
reached your recording will be sent back
to your computer as if to mp3
automatically at this point you're ready
to begin recording queue up your
cassette tape or your LP and click
record below promptly press play on your
stereo take note of your session number
in case of an electrical problem or if
your computer crashes while you're
recording unless there's a lot of noise
on your cassette or your LP backtrack
will separate your audio into tracks
automatically so you can go and do other

button at any time in the start button

can separate them into smaller tracks
using the scissors tool combine them
