Search and replace through multiple documents with Notepad++

huh
very quick video when I show you how do
you
batch change a whole buncha dotnet files
or any other files
in notepad plus plus so I've shown you
in a previous radio how awesome notepad
plus plus is
this makes it even more awesome so in a
lot Cisco training people are using gns3
they've got these dot net files in a lot
out you need to change things in these
dot net files like
title PC pointers to borders and that
type of stuff
here I've got 18 dotnet files
selected I need to change something in
every one of them
k so got no power plus plus already
installed on the computer I could simply
right click here in
edit with notepad plus plus and what
you'll see their
is it will open in all of them
alternatively I could start notepad plus
plus parts of
and dragged the 18 files in there so let
me show you how that works or notepad
plus plus is open
drag boom
and you could see right there I've got a
whole bunch of files open
in it only shows three here but if you
look into
upper right hand corner you have these
rate gyros and left a rose
and you could see I've got overflow here
are so you guys probably
already knew about that no te pas plus
can open multiple files
here I need to change this 127 001
I don't need to change it but it's for
this video so select on that
for 8 searching replace I can hit
control
each you see
what am I looking for 127 001 thankfully
because I had highlighted
it pops it in there and now I want to
change it to something else so it's a 55
55 55 55
I'm wanna change it to point to some
other hypervisor on the internet let's
see I'm running stuff on Rackspace
and incidently if you wanna run dynamics
on Rackspace I have a video coming up
very soon about that in its actually
very very easy to do
I wanna replace 127 001 with all 55's
if I replace all right here you will
just do it for this document which is
pretty cool
but then have to go into other 17
documents and do the same thing
gonna show you this one replace all in
all
open the documents so this was a mass
change across all 18 documented that
and you can see it is found 23
occurrences
and so it's let's take a look so here
we've got
all 50 fires this only had one hyper up
we got to hypervisors in there so
changed at the 55's
let's go to the right a couple this is a
single hypervisor also change this
so that's pretty nice and
that as well so that's the bash change
all you have to do is select what you
want to change I'm gonna change disease
all 55 address back to 127
control each 127 001
replace all in all opened documents
bull so there you go
changing mass Amanda documents in my
case
18 gns3 dotnet files in
one click toward at least a couple
