GPS Data Logger "Travel Honey" Review

I review a little GPS tracking/recorder device I picked up on ebay.

hey there alright I'm back to review
another high-tech gadget this time it's
the travel honey and although its head
sounds like some kind of adult on
portable sex toy
it's not it's rather a GPS on recorder
of such and its 4 1 as you can see here
and the functions that allows you to use
our location finder basically points to
a posting on data logger keeps track
using GPS data where you've been
photo tracker from what I can gather
that is we take a picture on your trip
you push a button here and it record
that like a point of interest so you
know where you took your pictures and g
mouse that has to do with cooking up
your laptop and then using the unit as
I'm not quite stars as your personal
navigator so i guess like a mouse
anyways I'm so here I got this here's
the packaging that came in I'd take area
took it out just to make sure thing was
there and those things i'll show you in
a second i'm so here's the box from all
right and then on the bottom here just
it's rohs compliant FC to do you can see
it's made in Taiwan and all right and
then decide it tells you about the photo
tag or software and i'm going to click
scan this so you can people can tell if
you can use it or not and down the other
side
this is some of the features so i'll let
you guys read that real quick guys and
girls here is give some to put my hands
you get a reference the size so it's not
all that big it's actually smaller than
I thought
there are the eight directional leds
some other status LEDs there and on the
bottom there's we plug in the USB
connected to your computer and then
there's the on/off switch that has two
modes it's a slide switch all right

power right and here's our battery I was
kind of hoping for something a double
layer so our triple-a something i can
get anywhere but instead they give me
this battery here which again I'm
don't worry about it being proprietary
but I have looked into it much more than
that
so I should probably find out where i
can buy these are all right then you get
USB cable
yay let's just make sure it's nothing
special here
no we're just looking at regular USB to
microUSB that's good though I'm you get
a car charger so i can charge on the go
and you get this this is kind of cute
will touch the other one is on anti slip
mats it's kinda like a rubbery kind of
um foamy yeah and I guess you put on
your dashboard and the thing doesn't
slide around and yes and it also comes
with the sock software which is the
photo gps fold tagger you have to
install this to use officer the photo
tagging function and as you can see it
comes with the activation code and I'm
covering up half of it so because it's
mine but you can yeah so don't lose this
envelope and instructions because trust
me you're not going to figure out how to
use this without them
well tell me you would better take a lot
longer so it comes in on these on a
half-mile of peace official paper here
and yeah and it is in English so that's
good and they're writing that it's
pretty legible
I mean there's some grammatical mistakes
but overall I can understand it and
there are five pages total 22 front and
back and then one that's just one side
so five pages of directions just give
you a quick example what the directions
look like okay you can see they're not
horribly complicated but you do have to
read it so now I guess I just got
charges up and tells me to charge it up
fully before using the first time and
then after that i'm going to attempt to
use the Sun alright alright so here i am
in the car right he gives us a gps
logger a run for its money
first thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go
ahead and turn it on to location finder
that's destruction
ok so now we got that now you can see
here the right thing is steady
that means it's looking for on a death
side light and when it starts blinking
we know we have connection to a
satellite running 65 channels here so
hopefully won't take too long
alright so I'm it and 40 seconds later
we got to gps signal so now I got a
store this location which is home or the
parking lot rather supposed to hold this
in 42 seconds thousand one thousand to
know those all lit up
now you see it says we are at the
destination which well course because
we're that we are aware that i set the
destination at which is home so I'm as
we drive away this arrow should
constantly point back to home so what
I'm gonna do now those i'm going to
switch over to look data logger its kind
of do a feature to put in dialogue or a
record where you go
so it keeps track of your your path and
the other thing is it stops you from
accidentally resetting your set point so
it's kind of like a lock feature of such
so now i'm going to scant slide it all
the way over to dl ok I did that one
false whoop
I guess we're gonna wait for the
satellite thing again
okay great so that took a lot less time
so we know it stay saved something from
going from one mode to the other which
is nice and i guess i'm going to start
driving
alright so I just thought I'd go ahead
and show you this um what's happening
here is I just based not even left the
parking lot yet but you can already see
it's already tell me how to get that too
from where I came and it's right it i
would go back in this case so it looks
like it's already picked up and I've
only moved about a 45 card lines so I'm

fedex kinko's up and rose that rosedale
and I obviously came from st. Paul which
is that way so I'm on foot now and i'm
just going to show you how responsive
this thing is okay so everybody showed
you its point and tell me to go that
direction which is correct
so what I'm gonna do though is I'm going
to go ahead and walk and see so I'm
going to walk in the wrong direction
okay still tell me to go that way
that's right but now I'm going to turn
this way in this change
okay just tell me to go back to go
forward
I going the right direction guy come on
now
yep okay there we go you decide and that
isn't that point to the correct
direction home so it seems that you can
even use it on foot if you're willing to
walk about like you know 10 20 steps in
a direction so okay so i'm back here at
the computer and with the actual log of
the travel that recorded with my new
device kinda covering up my house right
here there's a little blue flag showing
out where I started from and then it
didn't fact mark that starting off
there's this long road held Emmanuel
this long road that i took that was a
nice diagonal so I'd able to see what
I'm you know not just a straight line I
thought dying would be harder to for it
to count the cot that and then in fact
here i decided not to go around of the
lake but rather take the shortcut and it
caught me it didn't fact if you look
even copies or bends in the road i can
make a sharp little driving swerve on
that will that corner right there buddy
get caught that and then ok i went up
here took this main road and then that
little bump you see on the top there it
goes up is actually turning right to go
use the ATM but it caught that and keep
my next only like about a fourth of a
block in or a fourth block off of the
mean path i was taken here but it still
caught that then went up here made a
right turn you some major streets and of
course on with google maps help
we're able to get all this good detail
and there's home all you probably saw
that in the background when I was on
foot and right there that big red circle
is that fedex kinko's i stopped
and if you are an animal you hear in the
background but there's this major
highway here so you probably heard cars
go by even those early and so yeah it
did exactly i mean i could have asked
much more little loan for something that
was so small as this little device so
I'm impressed
alright another cool feature i just
found out is it actually keeps track of
your speed in either miles per hour or
killer km/h and so you can see this
graph and it shows all the stop-and-go
because I did I was city driving so
you're going to see a lot of up and down
and you got my peak x my peak speed
right max bid 45 miles per hour right on
the border of the speed limit right
ya gotta pay attention to that
especially in the cities and then also
the kisses brown line here that Brown
Line is the my change in altitude grand
for what I was driving that's really not
that important but i suppose if you're
doing some mountain driving or something
that could probably come in handy so
yeah just one more cool feature of this
to myself just one call a little exited
bit i noticed there was two entries on
my log for my device the 1i made up here
in Minnesota there was one that was done
even before that and he looked where it
came from and that is that California
and it's a total tract of 43 feet so I'm
assuming that's why the package was open
when I got it he must have test took it
for a quick test drive make sure it work
so that's something interesting so I
away from cali all the way up to
Minnesota kinda interesting you can
actually see it in this form
