Creating a New User File Share in Windows Server 2012 R2 - Part 4

another exciting part which is actually
part 4 of creating a tear storage spaces
with deduplication I think I'm part
1.mov looking at my notes you know I
apologize for being rude and I'm looking
at you guys apart when I showed you guys
how to create a storage space part so we
didn't modify we modified the disc to
implement tearing on part 3 we created a
tear volume with the duplication and
today i will show you guys how to create
a new user file share so again I'm using
microsoft virtual labs because i don't
have the capacity at home to do half of
this stuff i don't have like iscsi san
or don't have like a major hyper-v this
is the best way that you guys r us IT
guys can learn you know just go into
these virtual labs that there for you to
learn i'm just here doing this video for
you guys explain in more detail of what
you have to do and why you have to do it
so you guys could just understand a
little better get all this information
like the documentation the PDF and put
on the link so you guys go check it out
also i'm gonna provide the link for the
virtual lab so you guys can test that
out there and you know play around and
you know leave some comments and see
what kind of experience you dealt with
the virtual app so let's get started so
again i'm still logged in with in the
admin a workstation of and workstation
is a windows 8.1 pro which has all the
remote service and administrating tools
and it wants me to go into my server
manager which I'm already inside my
server manager and within server manager
we need to go click and files in storage
and services you want to go into shares
and within shares we need to go into
task and we're going to create and it's
going to create a new share
cool this is where the documentation
kind of gets iffy they don't really tell
you what specific profile to use ok so
I'm going to do an essay be share quick
I'm gonna hit next and then from here
it wants you to pick the DC because it
looks like the DC is where all the all
the iscsi stuff is that if you guys
remember an issue of video the first
part of the video i show you guys this
is nice little chart in the DC is what
contains a virtual iscsi san to provide
storage for your cluster nodes on a
storage network so that's one reason why
we picking GC all the time during this
video series so see and if you guys
remember i believe in parts moment my
notes and I believe in part 3 part 3 we
pick H the letter H right because that's
what Microsoft wanted again you can pick
any letter you want but we picked h and
we're gonna hit next and that's given a
cna now they provide you a shade a but
again depending on your work environment
you're probably following your
guidelines but they want to call it
user dash docks and again the local path
will be shared shared user docs and this
would be the path that you will navigate
to it you know whack whack DC user docs
and necks and they don't really go in
detail in other settings but it
basically just tells you go next next
next next
but by default it does allowing allows
caching of the sharecash it makes the
content of the shares available to
offline users this is really great
especially if something happens to your
server this this stuff is still there so
that's pretty cool at the branch cache
for the network file roll services the
store you can enable branch cache on the
share now if you if you're dealing with
a huge enterprise company that has an
active directory each domain or has like
a forest or a child of activities and
it's all connected to your colo to your
main site and you have like a file
server that's all that branch cutting
branch cache is the way to go when it
comes down to that kind of that kind of
scenario that kind of layout
our enable access base immunization so
I'm gonna doesn't it doesn't seem
something that I'm gonna be needing for
this virtual lab encrypt data access I'm
not gonna do with that either but i
think i think it's more of a production
you probably want to encrypt your data
access because it's more secure remember
this is very important information that
you have of you know for you know from
your users is all data is important no
matter what right I'm gonna hit next
permissions he's all the custom
permissions again permissions to access
the files on Cheryl set using the
combination of folder permissions share
positions about permissions and
occasionally and since you access policy
so I looks like everyone has full
control
I don't know if you want everyone to
have full control of us you know of this
particular share if you guys coming in
your environment so really it hasn't
next a nice little confirmation and
going to make great and it created real
simple real quick
that's awesome so that that's about it

around and break it and not worry about
it right huh

the next video on the next virtual lab
we're gonna test invalidate the
deduplication so that's pretty exciting
I think this is going to consist of a
lot of PowerShell a lot of creating
folders and copying stuff over so that's
pretty cool
