Converting MP3 With Audacity

This is a quick video on how to convert a file to mp3 with Audacity. Also, how to edit tags and down convert for smaller files

alright so i wanted to take a moment
here and show you how to set up the mp3
encoding and also show you what i have
been doing in order to encode the video
appropriately
excuse me the audio so they can get it
to the smallest possible size and also
merge the two stereo channels so that
you can actually hear both speakers
through the one channel or through both
earphones of you listen to your
recordings you'll find that one channel
and when your lunch and the other and
what this does is it merges the two
channels together so i just want to show
you real quick on how to set up the lane
transport in order for you to be able to
export your files to mp3 so what you
want to do is go to libraries and you
see here mp3 export library FMP
import-export library so what you want
to do is first locate this and see if
it's already there
I've already downloaded it so how you
get here just kinda go through that
again is going to edit preferences
libraries and then you'll see it here so
if you've got installed you can go ahead
and do it there otherwise you can click
the download link download the file and
then install it and it's not even an
install it's actually just you want to
put the file someplace on your computer
and then located here by browsing and
then you can find the mp3 DL so that is
it and so what you want to do is you
want to create and actually encode your
file so that it is a mono instead of
stereo so you can get both channels and
one headset so we're going to take the
last file that was sent to me and we're
going to do a quick version on it so
it'll take just a second
open it this was a 45 Meg file
and we were able to compress it down to
I think seven Meg so i will go into my
audio files and look at real capital
view as you can see here the first file
was 43 mag we converted it down to seven
so big difference seems on server space
makes my hosting provider very very
happy
so we're going to keep letting this
import what this is taking is that large
huge file that you sent me and importing
it and so you can see we have the two
channels here and we'll go ahead

so the first thing i want to do is you
want to stereo track to mono now it's
going to take these two tracks and merge
them into one so we're going to do that
here and it's going to take a second to
do that and as we're waiting here we can
go into this file here and then i'll
show you also how to set up the tags
which i have created a template for the
tags and makes it really easy to apply
them you can do this on your own when
you export it to an mp3 so see it's done
now we have one channel presents out of
sight as you see the value both channels
one now we want to do is we want to go
in here and we want to export export as
an mp3 and we're just going to call this
test export ok you want two options now
what you want to do is you want to do
the smallest possible file this should
be a decent audio sound very similar to
what you had this over the internet you
don't need you know the best qualities
can make a lot larger file
uh this is 85 kilobits u-135 120 is
actually pretty decent but because we're
hosting on the server
I want to try to minimize the amount of
storage so we got joint stereo our full
stereo a new joint stereo hit ok now i
do is hit save it's gonna pop up this so
you can see there's already some mp3 tag
information in here we're going to
actually replace this with a loaded
template that i created see it's an xml
file it ok you can see real captive you
interview with do whatever you want to

and then we hit okay now you'll see is
this export occur and it's going to take
a little bit of time to do that so what
this is doing is basically compressing
that if it's converting the file that
you gave me 2.mp3 and it's compressing
it down into a much smaller file size so
that I have the ability to host on my
server and have it not used so much
server space
all right now that we're done file is
converted we're going to go into where
we saved it so we have a test expert as
you can see the file size is much
smaller than it was and we double-click
on this will be able to play it
