labels to help you shop for new bulbs
when you go to buy an energy-efficient
light bulb you can look for information
in three locations on the front of the
package on the back of the package and
on the bulb itself on the front there is
information about the bulbs brightness
measured in lumens and the estimated
energy costs $MONEY per year for this
cfl it cost one dollar and 57 cents a
year while the traditional incandescent
will add about seven dollars to your
yearly energy costs the back of the
package has the most information about
the bulb there's a lighting Facts label
which resembles the nutrition labels you
see on food just like on the front of
the package the brightness is shown in
lumens and the energy cost is also
listed below that you'll see how long
the bulb will last
some of the efficient options last over
10 years the color appearance scale let
you know if the Bob will appear to be
warm or yellow hue or appear more cool
or blue the label shows the energy used
in wats the most efficient bulbs require
less wats to give off the same amount of
brightness and the label will tell you
if the bulb contains mercury which
requires it to be recycled that will
also be printed on the bulb along with
the amount of lumens
