Mahalo Windows expert Sean Hewitt gives a tutorial on the sound recorder for Windows 7.

How to Record Sounds
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Click on the Start menu at the bottom left of your screen.

2. In the search field, type in Sound Recorder then press Enter on the keyboard. 

3. The Sound Recorder will appear. It has a Start Recording button along with Help and About buttons. 

4. To adjust the sensitivity of your microphone, right-click on the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. This will prompt a menu in which you select Recording Devices. 

5. This will prompt the Sound menu. Click the Recording tab followed by the Microphone option. 

6. Click Properties then Levels. This will open a slider feature. By clicking and dragging the blue toggle on the slider bar, you can adjust the microphone sensitivity. Once it is at your desired level, hit OK followed by OK on the next screen as well. 

7. To record, click the Record Button. When you're done, click the Stop Recording button.

8. This will bring you to the Documents Library where you can choose where it will save the audio file to. This is where you can type in the file name and Save as type.

and in today's lesson i'm gonna show you
how to use Windows built-in sound
recorder the sound recorder and windows
seven is simply the built-in program
that allows you to record sound from a
microphone to access it simply click on
the start menu in the search field type
in sound recorder then enter on the
keyboard over the various versions of
windows there's been quite a few
different sound recorders the sound
recorder we have here in windows 7 is by
far the simplest sound recorder the
windows has seen there's simply a start
recording button and also helping about
now one other thing that would help you
for recording is if you're able to turn
up the sensitivity of your microphone
you're not able to do that in the sound
recorder but if you wanted to do that
simply right-click on the speaker in the
bottom right-hand corner of your screen
and select recording devices then based
off of whichever recording device you
like to use click on it and hit
properties and then levels from here I
can select how sensitive microphone is
so say for instance if I'm talking I'm
not able to pick it up on the sound
recorder can adjust my mic levels my
microphone is more sensitive just by
moving the slider bar and hit OK and ok
and to record just simply hit the record
button then once you're done hit the
stop record button and then decide
we'd like to save your audio file to
