How to Create a Folder Monitor Event with OpenPGP to Encrypt an Incoming File
In this video, we will be creating a Folder Monitor Event Rule that includes an OpenPGP operation Action to encrypt an incoming file.

to global escapes safety service a
tutorial on how to create folder morning
rules for pgp encryption and file
processing today we're going to walk
through some basic steps for creating
folders motoring event rules in proper
process for dividing your conditions
just a couple things to keep in mind
before we get started on this lesson
today we want to talk a little bit about
logically defining the order of events
based off the event trigger in time also
streamlining events at UT can
efficiently process files and lastly
understanding how easy to handle two pgp
files in the caveat that come with using
folder monitors
ok so let's get started let's go ahead
and create the event rule
there's two ways you can accomplish this
by right-clicking anywhere in the site
configuration or actually clicking on
the ventral node and selecting new when
you select a new you're gonna have a sub
menu that pops up and then you can
select your event trigger type
we are going to create a folder monitor
so we go ahead and select that and then
the event real name is just a label so
we'll call this folder monitor pgp
encrypt test and then you have a
description field
this will come in handy when you want to
explain what your event rules doing in
case you have other administrators
so at this time we'll go ahead with them
ok so we go ahead and set a modern
folder to set this to see temp

and you can see here this condition for
a file change does equal to add it is
always created a folder monitoring of
their holes in this example we actually
going to utilize this condition
so we are going to add another condition
on top of this one in the top left pane
you can notice the selection and options
that you can use for process of
conditions
so we are going to select colony so

and then we are going to set a copy move
action set this to move
and then we are going to set this to
local
and then we're gonna leave this SMS path
which will keep the originating path and
filename and we're going to set our
destination path

this event so we are going to sit
actually the same conditions that we
have to find in the first one just with
some subtle differences
so let's go ahead and like other
conditions here i'm going to select if
i'll change
- automatically highlights that it
creates a new line and i'm also going to
select file name want to go down here
change my conditions
- added and the file name
does not match star . pgp alright so our
action for these conditions is going to
be in crypts step so by default it's
already set to encrypt and we open this
weekend look here it's using my default
key or you if you have more than one key
and select from the appropriate list and
then the file to process is going to be
FS path which is going to be the
originating path and filename so we're
going to leave that the same
all right i'll go ahead and apply that
so right now our event role is said you
can figure to go
so let me explain a little bit about
this the in-group step is really what
makes all of this make sense
basically when 50 encrypt the file it
actually removes the file from the
source directory encrypt the file and
then places it back into the monitor
directory as a JPG file when that
happens the event is reach triggered and
then compared against the initial
conditions however this time when
compared against these initial
conditions they're going to be met and
therefore process the file which is
going to move from source to destination
and attempt to then the second condition
is going to be compared and it's gonna
be completely ignored because not only
is the file gone but it just does not
match
so therefore this thread is not even
open for the file
so this just creates more efficiency for
the file process
ok so now that we have our ventral
created and ready to go
we're going to go to the monitor
directory
and then we are going to copy
and paste this file into the monitored
fold
yeah
as you can see the file is immediately
removed and if we're going to the temp
to directory we should find our
encrypted file as you see here
test file EXT . p gb has been added to

just to recap a little bit basically
what we've done years that we've created
a ventral that will avoid any type of
race conditions and to avoid any type of
scenarios where they will be multiple
threads open currently on the same file
so that we can process our data and
decrypt our data more efficiently
