hello everyone well today we're talking
about scheduling resources on multiple
projects to ensure your project success
don't fall trap to the scheduling myth
by assuming that your team member works
on just one project or that their
hundred percent on every project with no
vacation 24 by 7 and no holidays or
weekends because that's not realistic
and what that does it makes them look
like they have more hours allocated to a
project and they really do which causes
you trouble down the line the more
realistic picture is that your team
member or your team members work
multiple projects so they're juggling
multiple projects and so instead we want
to use the scheduling best practices
where you account for all of their
projects and you determine the percent
allocated per project because for every
project they're working on there is a
proper budget that allocates them for
each one you need to align your time
with that we also need to block out
vacation time on their calendar so that
you're not scheduling activities for
them to be do but it's also not
accounting for that time we also want to
allocate working time like what days of
the week do they work they work every
day they work weekends do they work
partial days we need to account allocate
for that too and we want to block out
any holidays or weekends they may not
work when you do this we are accounting
for more realistic time they're more
realistic hours and the reason we go to
this more granular level is to ensure
that we are not over extending our
resource it also allows us to make more
efficient use of all of the resources on
our project and it gives us more
realistic view of their availability and
it also gives us a reflection of the
limitation
maybe that they're working under really
sets us up better for success
