How to repair and paint alloy wheels at home with spray cans (BMW 44s) PART 1
See Part 2 (Painting) here: http://youtu.be/ibrHMKYk03M
I've wanted to try and refurbish a set of BMW 44 style alloys for some time. This is video is the first video of 2 recording the process I went through to get these battered, gutter rash, kerb damaged alloys back to their former glory.
This is my first attempt at refurbishing alloys. I hope you enjoy the videos and maybe feel inspired to try this yourself.

ok
yeah
ok
17 my next project will be to refurbish
and flip for style
hello mr. bought secondhand and I wanted
to share these rages
this is the worst of the
and when you buy second hand you're
going to get kind of battered alloys and
you know this is pretty bad and pretty
deep so most of this isn't going to come
off with just you know sending down
because we lose the shape so I'm gonna
have to feel some of this was a few
videos online of people you know in a
different methods are relatively the
same process of sending filling sounding
priming paint so I went to my version
and and see how we go
all right you know what
just one note like coming from a damaged
his point of view and when you see
things like this
it was pretty scary and you know just
dive in
because even with taking so long
some 80 grip right and just going away
it is already looking bear because you
as you're running a handle on it you can
start to put the shape back
this particular rush here for this chip
has been popped out here is actually a
lump and right there
so I'm just gonna use the tools I have
in this case that we just a simple file
just going to tip this file and flatten
that every they're all right
so they go and i didn't use the files
take it all the way down because it's
just a pretty big but I definitely
needed it to take that lump off because
it's about two miles worth of alloy on
there so we had issues for that my back
to some paper
alright guys so where I've been going at
this for about 10 minutes and again it's
really looking a hundred times better
than what it was that was that worst
area and got the basic shape back and we
feel there's a little kind of hairline
scratches the down it came out quite
easily and and the worst of it well it's
not looking too bad now so when you
apply them feel here just using a simple
degreaser to get rid of any grease or
wax that will come off already
those are done
where is the instructions say for a golf
ball size note of mud or filler need to
pee shape amount of hardness it but
check your instructions
ok so that's not even mix and that's
good to go
just going to use a piece of an old card
when their store cards and stop
and smooth down as much as possible so
you can spend hours and not
before starting the project was worried
about how much
you see how much LOL i was taken off
understanding process but what i found
is that what you just said can handle it
is in reasonably good condition
not as always what I send it off is like
nothing is this
you know points of a millimeter
where is it that some of the other times
I was going to buy a really naket like
there was chocolate missing out of th
in that case like in hindsight I
probably just by the crappiest perak
find or crappy cell could find and
definitely just gonna get a refurbed for
about 200 quid on a basic set of eyes
ok so that's the same tire done
what about the ones already sounded so
I'm going to go and feel that too
I've got a bit of a little leftover
sublet for the drive for a half an hour
I'm gonna hit it with some 80 grit to
make your flat
yeah
ok
yeah
yeah
yeah
hopefully you can see from the video is
starting to take shape
I mean as you can see it's not quite
there yet but i'm going to go over this
a few more times and I'm going to put a
little bit more filler in there to fill
up a little ducks and holes and spend
most of our time trying to get this
shape back here but we're getting there
right guys just a quick update so what I
did was went for the second Phil and you
know just got rid of all the low spots
and went from the US and then M start
using a hundred grit and then up to
1,200 grit and if I feel it now it's
really smooth and got rid of the low
spots and as many little niggles that I
can't and I'm going to never look at it
tomorrow before a mosque up and get
ready to spray and this is the worst the
area that we had the worst area and you
know I have to say it's looking pretty
damn good
it feels about right so yeah I'm gonna
check it again in the morning and then
Moscow ready to spray
