Oracle APEX 4.2.4 Tutorial (03 of 22) - Use SQL Workshop to create tables from SQL scripts.

This video shows how to use SQL Workshop to upload SQL scripts and run them. In the examples shown there is a script to create tables. The data model for these tables is also explained. The script is available to use if you want to work along with the videos. The URL for the scripts in this video series is given at the beginning of the video.

oracle apex is a developer tool that
enables us to create working
applications on a database in oracle and
to do that very quickly so in this video
series for rapid application development
we will be using apex 424 if you want to
work along with the videos there are
scripts available that will be run in
the first few videos that create tables
and populate the tables with data for
this video i'm logged in as Sweeney one
of the developers Sweeney's a role in
this development initially is to work on
the draft of the data model review it in
oracle data modeler and then eventually
with the finalized data model create the
tables so ashwin has locked in and she's
now going to go to the SQL workshop and
go to SQL scripts and we now have
scripts that we're going to upload and
run so you click on upload you choose a
file and the files are available to you
in the URL that shown at the beginning
of the video and you come in and look
for the file that has the word create in
it then you upload that file and you
have this interface showing this file
being uploaded and I want to click run
and then have it run now after the
script has run you have the option of
viewing the results and so will click
here and we'll see that we had
everything run 16 statements without
errors and that's an important thing to
check for $MONEY
now I could go back to SQL workshop and
go into object browser and we can see
that we now have the tables if i click
on a particular table then to the right
in this pain i can see the in this case
the table definition or description
showing column names data types i can go
across and click tabs and see in this
case that right now we have no data i
can look at constraints we will come
back shortly and look at the user
interface defaults now this set of
tables is based on a data model and what
we have is projects that are assigned to
teams we have teams that have students
we have students that may attend a
workshop for team-building skills such
as leadership communication then we have
students on teams that will evaluate
their peers on that team so students
will be doing evaluations as evaluate or
and they'll be evaluated as evaluate t
they'll be evaluated on certain
evaluation items such as professionalism
communicates well works well with others
those are the items that will be
selected and scored in an evaluation
