How to Watermark Multiple Pictures in Photoshop CS6

How to Watermark Multiple Pictures in Photoshop CS6

Here's my take on how to watermark a ton of pictures (of different sizes and orientations) using the Actions and Image Processor features in Photoshop CS6.

It's my first tutorial so I'd appreciate your constructive criticisms! I felt like I was trying hard to sound professional during the whole tutorial. Nevertheless, I hope you learned something from this! Let me know if you have better ideas on how to watermark a bunch of pictures without doing it one by one.

well hello bear this tutorial I'm going
to show you how to watermark multiple
pictures of different sizes and
orientation with just a few simple steps
i'm going to be using Adobe Photoshop
cs6 which is the newest version of this
program
alright so the very first thing that you
want to do is to open one of the
pictures that you want a watermark and
then on the right-hand side of the
window click on the icon that looks like
play button at the bottom of the actions
window click on this icon to create a
new action
you can name it anything but I'm just
gonna go with watermark
once you hit that enter key Photoshop
will start recording
almost every single thing that you do
within the program so at this point we
have to be really careful with every
single step we take
now under the file menu click on place
and then navigate to where your
watermark is located in
go ahead and adjust size of your
watermark is going to make it as big as
that and then position it to where you
want to put it for me it's going to be
at the bottom left corner of the picture
and then click on the check mark at the
top of the screen or hit the enter key
going back to the actions window you can
click on this icon to stop recording now
this is my favorite part
click on file scripts and an image
processor and the top of the window
click on select folder and navigate to
the directory where pictures are saved
in mice on the desktop so select that
folder and hit open and select the
folder where you want to save your
pictures in we're going to create a new
one and call it upload it create and and
Turkey
i'm going to save my files as jpg and
give it give them a maximum quality make
sure that run action is selected and
choose the action that we created
earlier called watermark and then hit
run so photoshop is going to do its own
thing
let's go ahead and take a look at the
results
so if you there the very first picture
that we watermark to another picture on
the folder you'll notice that the
watermark is actually the same position
originally
well just get but then here's the issue
the action that we created doesn't
actually work with a vertically oriented
pictures when we around the image
processor script earlier
photo shall treated every single picture
in the folder as if they have the same
settings as a respiratory water marked
but unfortunately not all the pictures
in our folder or in the landscape
orientation if you go back to the second
step of our process we could have added
another step which is to click on select
choose all and then click on the very
first tool in our toolbox which is the
move tool and then align the watermark
on the bottom and left edges of the
canvas
but that doesn't leave any space between
the edges and the watermark don't really
want that this extra step is only going
to help if your watermark is out the
dead center of the picture
but then again that's not what I want to
happen
so what I'm going to show you next is a
workaround that will help you get the
results that I wanna cheese
but first I need to modify my watermark
it's going to be easier I promise so
create a new canvas
that's a little bit bigger than the size
of your watermark
next click on the rectangular marquee
tool which is the second tool in your
toolbox and then create a really really
thin rectangle on the left edge of your
canvas
right click on that rectangle click on
Phil and then changes capacity to one
percent and then click OK do the same
thing on the bottom edge of your canvas
right click click on Phil capacities one
percent and then place your watermark on
your new canvas and then i'm going to
see this as a new watermark
i'm going to name it watermark to on my
desktop and now that I have my new
watermark
I'm going to repeat the same steps that
we did earlier i'm going to create a new
action and name it
watermark - I can actually type it again
place my new
watermark on the picture and adjust its
size
place it in the middle for now click on
the check mark hit enter and then add
another step which is to select all
click on the move tool and then align
the watermark to the bottom edge and
left edge of the canvas as you can see
the almost invisible line so we added to
our watermark using the rectangular
marquee tool helps me maintain enough
space between my watermark and the edges
of my canvas
so now we can stop recording and then
run the image processor script
just like before we're going to be
watermarking the same pictures but we're
going to be saving the watermark
pictures in a different folder i'm just
going to create another one called
upload to and then i'm going to choose
the watermark to as BM action to run
so let's see if this worked
so now let's take a look at the results
so the very first picture that we
watermark compared to a vertically
oriented picture
yeah you look at that
yes it worked
yeah
