How to Set Any Image as an Icon in OS X

so I've got this folder full of pictures
of Obama fist-bumping and it comes in
super handy if i ever need to drop an
image into our group chat or something
to say great job its way cool right so
so I it looks like any other folder that
kind of sucks an easy way to change that
you can you can customize any folder in
OS 10 pretty easily and it doesn't cost
anything and he was out works so say I
want to take this image here and I want
to make it the image for this folder
fist-bump folder that's the icon so all
you do is pull up the info which you can
do by pressing command I or
right-clicking and get clicking get info
and then this here this little icon in
the corner of the info panel is what you
change so open your to be icon image in
preview press command a to select all of
it and then command C to copy it go over
here select that click the icon in the
upper corner there
press ctrl command V and that's all
there is to it
you've pasted it and now look it's a
nice handy fist-bump icon I can move it
wherever I want and I can very easily
and quickly find my fist bump folder if
you do this and you decide you want to
change it back you can actually do that
really easily too so let's take folder
like this and all you do is go to this
folder select the icon in the corner
command C to copy it
select the icon here command V to paste
it and its back to normal as you can see
it's really easy way to switch icons and
I actually really like doing this for
four frequently use folders to to keep
an eye on what's inside of and just get
like a quick a quick view of what's
inside just like the trash folder has a
special icon even though it's really
just folder
so yeah piece of cake really easy to do
and totally free
