Coordinate Calculator use coordinate system, recommended by Defence Mapping Agen

Converting survey points between datums without guesswork

You have a list of points in one datum and need them in another, on a different spheroid, and a rough conversion won't do. Coordinate Calculator is a small geodetic coordinate converter written by Victor Nekrasov in Delphi. It follows the recommendations of the Defense Mapping Agency (USA) Technical Report 8350.2.

Quick facts

  • Latest version listed: 3.0.0.x (740 KB download)
  • Previous version: 2.02 (544 KB download)
  • Price: free (freeware; see the licence file shipped with it)
  • Earlier 2.x builds: 32-bit applications for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP

Key features

Conversions that follow the DMA technical report

Versions 2.0, 2.01 and 2.02 all support the DMA Technical Report 8350.2 recommendations, so your results rest on a well-known reference rather than a home-made formula.

264 datums and 33 spheroids in version 2.02

Version 2.02 supports 264 datums and 33 spheroids. That covers most cases where you move data between different projections and ellipsoids.

Single points or whole lists

You can convert a single point or a list of points, so one-off checks and batch jobs both fit.

Who it's for

It suits people who do geodesy and cartography work and need datum and spheroid conversions without paying for a full GIS package.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: free to use.
  • Pro: small download, with a wide datum and spheroid list.
  • Pro: converts single points and lists.
  • Con: it is a focused calculator, not a mapping suite.
  • Con: the early 2.x builds target old 32-bit Windows versions.
