here's a quick video on windows movie
maker and how to use the split and trim
tool in Windows 7 and Windows 8
ok to start with go ahead and open up
windows movie maker
once you have it open bring your movie
in and once you brought your your movie
in that you want to add it on the
right-hand side is where you can do your
editing and in this case we're going to
split this clip into two different
frames here in the way to go about doing
that is you grab & drag this little
guide line here and for this demo model
but worry about in the center and what
you have where you want it and what you
do is go up top here under video tools
under edit and you click on this link
icon and that will split this single
frame this single clip into two
different clips and that you'll be able
to edit each of them separately or the
other ways you can do this is to learn
the clip itself which your cursor right
click and scroll down to the right and
click on split on the menu here and that
will also split this single clip into
two separate clips for you to separate
frames
ok up next the trim tool what the trim
tool allows you to do is to trim some of
the video that you might not want at the
beginning of your clip or trim some of
the video at the end of the clip that
you might not want and eliminate it
so there's two ways of going about this
you can use this icon up top here and
say trim tool and that takes you to this
screen where you can be very accurate
and scroll up and down with your arrows
here click up and down the arrows rather
and you know that way you know exactly
at what point timewise that you want to
start your point where you're trimming
starts and where your trimming in
and of course once you find it you can
go ahead and click set start . or set in
. and also trigger save that trim right
here i'm gonna cancel out of this
because i'm just going to show you the
you know the other way here which is a
quick and dirty
this is the guideline if i move my
guyline over to approximately where I
would like the video to be trimmed at
the beginning I can get you know say
okay that's a good point and I can just
go ahead and click on start . or i can
right click and click on start set start
. so at that once i do that now all that
video at the beginning of that's set
start . has been eliminated from this
clip and again just quick and dirty i
can go okay down about right there I
don't want anything that's what that's
going to be the end of my movie on my
video here and i can just go ahead and
again just click up here if I wanted to
or right click here and i'm going to
click up here this time click set
endpoint and so everything beyond that
point is now eliminated from the end of
my video alright that's how you go about
using the trim tool
