[How To] Clone SSD (or Hard Drive) To Another SSD (Or Hard Drive)

***Read Below***
Recently, I upgraded from a small capacity SSD drive to larger SSD drive. Rather than reinstall Windows 7 and all my programs, it was much simpler to just clone the old hard drive to the new one. It's painless, and relieves a lot of headaches without having to reinstall anything. Today we will use a freeware program called Macrium Reflect Free to do this purpose. Enjoy!

Note: It is worthwhile to create a recovery/rescue disk in the event your PC crashes, you can boot off from the disc to navigate to your image file and restore your PC!

ok
hey guys this is versatile from BST
power now hold on project Phoenix me in
today's video tutorial will show you a
freeware solution method that allows you
to easily clone your hard drive like an
SSD or hard drive and clone it to
another hard drive so my particular case
i have a 64 gigabyte SSD
I'm going to clone it to transfer it to
a larger SSD 128 gigabytes for example
and that means it's gonna make a full
image
I don't have to reinstall windows i have
to reinstall my programs it's really
quick
it's really easy and i'll show you how
this works and when I have a lot of good
times today
so you got two more info section i got a
link to this website macrumors.com /
reflect free . aspx
here's a list of differences between the
free version versus all the other
versions and the free version does a
pretty good job so what you want to do
is click on the download now is that
come with this download.com installer
run it
follow the wizard and then go ahead and
download these other files here so I
will go ahead and install the program
show you guys what that looks like
so click on next here this is after the
download.com executed has download the
files here and they just go through the
wizard is going to have his own serial
key which is fine so go ahead and click
the next year i'm not going to register
at this point in time I'm just going to
skip that and then I'm go ahead and
click on next and just installed a
program here and there momentarily the
program will be installed and then after
you how to do this so it's pretty good
program
I messed around with the other day
basically what you can do is you can
clone like an entire hard drive like
your system partition as well as any
other petitions to you can clone them
and then directly transfer them from one
hard drive to the next which is awesome
you could also make an image backup so
let's say you make a backup image of
your main C Drive you can see it to an
external hard drive on your network
burn it to a DVD disc or blu rays for
example so in the future of your
computer crashes you can just run the
maximum program from the recovery disk
if you make a restore disk of course
make booted from your restore files and
you're up and running and you're good to
go
so I think we're done with that we got
everything fully installed that's great
let's go ahead launch my launch program
here and i think it's called reflect
yep here we go and for today's purposes
i want to show you how to do
a clone like one hard drive to another
hard drive
so let's say you want to upgrade from a
small hard drive to a larger one and
just close the small one to a big one
and then you don't have to reinstall
anything that is awesome so I want to do
here is and ask for registration I'm
gonna do that some other time
so much they do not remind me all right
so I got different hard drives connect
to my computer right now this one white
right here is my USB external hard
drives i wanna uncheck that just make
sure i'm not going to check it by
accident
this is my SSD this is my new one I was
messing around with so this is the 120 +
8 gigabyte version so I'm gonna mess
around with that one basically and then
uh let's see here we got my main SSD
here
I'm uncheck this other hard drive i have
so basically what how i use this program
is I basically go ahead and click on one
of these discs here so like here's my
SSD like my main hard drive
it's 64 gigabytes I want to clone this
bad boy so you can you image this disk
where you just make an image save it to
a destination your computer
so that's good you want to make full
image image files you don't want to
clone it and you don't want to restore
to a one hard drive to the next I
immediately but I want to a clone
so I'm gonna say clone this disc right
so make sure everything's right
yeah uh yeah here's the system partition
here's the main partition with a clone
this disk now is going to ask you what
is the disc you want to clone -
so let's select on that I was like my
other hard drive
ok and this will erase all your data so
make sure you got the correct hard drive
that you're gonna flash - or clone -
because if you make a mistake here it's
not my fault
as user error so please be careful guys
I don't want you to accidentally lose
your data in this process will be very
careful
take your time and you're gonna have a
lot of good times here
so here we got from my C Drive main disk
to another SSD disk
everything looks right so I'm gonna go
ahead click on next and here is going to
start the process actually
and when i did this the other day it
took about three two minutes so it's
going to vary on your computer of course
depending on what you need to do
how large your hard drive is
another source to the target and so on
and so forth
here you go to advanced options you can
select different options here if you
want i want to just leave it as is
normal and then we're good to go
and then what you wanna do is click on
finish and now here's the process is
going to say that this volume Jays and
be dismounted which is correct click on
continue and now the cloning process has
started and 32 minutes later or whatever
is going to be I will have a full image
of my main c drive to my larger hard
drive and then use another program like
a partition manager
I can expand my partition and use all my
capacity so now if i disconnect the
small hard drive and then boot windows
from the new hard drive
I can definitely do that because i did a
full clone and it's awesome
so that's today's video tutorial you
guys have any questions leave a comment
here on YouTube page and get back to you
soon as possible
once again thanks for watching take care
bye
