you can't live with it yet we still
can't live without it
it's like that little paper see that
takes root and grows into this enormous
paper pile weed that overtakes your desk
file cabinet tops and even your kitchen
countertops
so how do you keep this paper weed from
growing in your house
hi I'm Pam with organizer easy 911 in
this clip I want to show you three easy
steps to follow to help you keep this
paper weed from growing in your home
let's check it out ok the first thing to
do we bring your mail in your home is
taking note of where you're bringing it
in your home that is your first line of
defense now I always bring my mail
through the front door so if you look
down here i have been that I placed here
that is for my junk mail
never let your junk mail get more than
two feet into your home that is half
about
ok the second thing you want to do is to
have some kind of sorting system for
sorting station set up in your home
we have four people in our family so i
have set up for different bins and I
have labeled here for all of us and then
you simply put the mail it belongs to in
there bit that now if you get a lot of
magazines i would say suggest a separate
baskets that somewhere where you do your
reading of magazines and put those in
there never looked more than two months
worth of magazines pilot if you haven't
read them in two months
you're not going to so keep the magazine
suffered and sort the mail here okay
finally the third step of organizing
your snail mail is to actually deal with
the snail mail now i don't recommend
opening up mail daily dealing with it on
a daily basis sometimes I think that
puts us under a lot of extra pressure so
what I always say for your third step is
to do with your mail once a week I
personally select sunday mornings to go
through the previous week's mail for one
thing it was not delivered on sunday
there's no post on something so it seems
like a perfect break and really anything
that comes in snail mail probably is not
of such a nature that needs to be
handled within 24 48 hour period of time
anyway so i suggest handle your bail
once a week says time consistently once
a week to handle it
I per person like sunday mornings it's
it's five a.m. on sunday and the kids
are still asleep it's quiet
I've got my coffee got everything set up
on my desk I can get through the week's
mail and well under an hour and I can
actually have x
sometimes to get to some magazines i
like to it's my little quiet time the
whole weeks mail is handled in under an
hour and we're ready to go on my bins
cleared out for the next coming week so
that's my recommendation for handling
your snail mail first of all your door
is your first line of defense purge the
junk mail the moment you walk in the
door so i have been up two feet no more
than that door so you can throw it out
do not let it get any further into your
home at step number one step number two
is to set up a sorting station sort of
the mail for the rest of the family if
the ones week works for the rest of the
family that's fine if other people in
your family like to handle mail on the
daily basis that's their prerogative i
liked the size of those bins that i
showed you for step two because it's a
limited container meaning it doesn't
allow any more than they can fit in that
little spot so at one point they're
going to have to deal with it can't grow
bigger than that
so you want to sort your second step is
to sort out the mail your third step is
to deal with it and again I suggest once
a week
set aside an hour make it something a
little bit more pleasant like i said i
got a cup of coffee it's quiet sometimes
I put on a little music to make it a
little bit more pleasant experience
paying the bills
another thing to help keep your snail
mail under control and it's justified
side thought is to try to do everything
online go paperless with a lot of your
monthly bills that will save you a lot
of money or a lot of time rather it i
only have this much to go through
because everything else is handled
online paperless so it'll save you a lot
of time in the long run
