LG 24MP88HV-S Monitor - IPS Display With Super Thin Bezels

That's because the base it connects to is very wobbly and does not keep the monitor still. Even a bit of typing on the desk will bounce it - more so than it should on a $300 monitor. The monitor does include a standard VESA mount for wall mounts, etc. so that might be a better way to go with it. But the stand offers very little adjustability and it's not very stable on a desk.

This is a 1080p panel running at 60hz with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 5ms response rate. For some reason the US tech specs on their site says the contrast ratio is "mega" (whatever that means) while the Canadian specs give the 1000:1 value. On a Windows 10 PC colors are nice and accurate. Text and photos are sharp and look good. Macs are another story - getting the proper color will require some degree of granular calibration. The included CD lacked any color profiles for the Mac.

It is non-reflective with a matte film installed on it. This clouds the image slightly but not as bad as I've seen on other displays. 1080p displays at this size are prone to showing individual pixels so you might notice them if you're used to high DPI displays on your laptop or tablet.

There is definitely some wow-factor here with these thin bezels. But the wobbly stand is really inexcusable on a mid-tier display like this one.

hey everybody its lon side then we've
got another thin bezel monitor take a
look at today this is the LG 24 mph 88
hv - guess they don't make these things
easy to remember but this is a another
20 3.8 inch display IPS 1920 x 1080 p
with a very wobbly stand as you'll see
in a minute here but before I get into
the review i do want to mention that
this came in through the Amazon buying
program free of charge
however I've had no direct communication
with LG or Amazon all the opinions are
about to here are my own
nobody is reviewing this video before it
is posted and nobody is paying for this
review either so let's get into the
hardware here and see what this is all
about this is another man finish display
again in 1920 x 1080 resolution on it it
looks pretty nice actually it's not bad
you've got decent viewing angles it is
an IPS display
so you have a pretty good range of
motion here but you'll note that the
stand that it's on it doesn't move so
you have to move the whole stand to get
a different position there's no up or
down motion you only have a little bit
of an angle adjustment on it here so I'm
really I'm surprised actually for a
three-hundred-dollar monitor that this
stand isn't better it's really wobbly
really cheap feeling that this feels
like an afterthought almost which is a
disappointment
the monitor does have a vase amounts on
it so you can attach it to a you know a
little wall mount or something which
might be preferable given just how lousy
the stand is on it
well I'm back here you've got to hdmi
inputs no MHL so it's just regular hdmi
you also have vga as well as an audio
input and an output
there are speakers built-in they're not
great but they do a passable job of
getting audio out to you they are stereo
but i would recommend using an external
pair of speakers or headphones because
they are kind of tinny and not the best
sounding things in the world is really
hard to fit much into this case just
given how thin the bezels are on here is
this take take a look at this this is
the actually think it's bezel here on
the bottom so you really have a very
thin bezel here and if you are into that
sort of thing I think you'll like this
quite a bit of the color on it is pretty
good it really looks pretty nice as I'm
looking at it however I found it does
much better with Windows computers than
it does with Max as far as color
calibration is concerned this is not
unique to this monitor i found by many
other third-party monitors don't play
well with Max when it comes to color
calibration and unfortunately they don't
give you any color
calibration drivers in on the disk for
the mac so you're on your own here
trying to get everything calibrated you
do have a very large degree of
calibration you can do on the monitor so
you can kind of dig into their display
here and adjust the color individually
here and there's a few other areas too
like a six color adjustment so you can
really get into it and find a setting
that works on the calibration side but I
think for a lot of consumers they want
to plug this thing in and have it work
right
it really wasn't happy with the image
quality on the mac on the pc it's much
better didn't require any drivers or
anything you just picked it up and
really looks pretty nice on here
this does again had the matte finish on
it as you can probably see by now what's
nice is that it doesn't reflect all that
much light even when i pointed at my
studio light here you can see it's
really just getting rid of a lot of that
light is shining down on it so you not
to be looking into a mirror on here
which is a good thing
however it does add a little bit of
cloudiness to the display I i I've
mentioned this on a few other map
displays I've looked at recently almost
feel like you want to pull off another
layer of film on it but you are unable
to do so because that is actually built
into the monitor and it's a feature
I'm not a a protective layer so you
definitely i will have two one
it's what you think that you may want to
look at it first before you get into it
but it does look very nice did pretty
sharp actually sharper than I've seen on
that dell monitor we looked at that had
a very similar
I display and film on it one of the
things you can do in Windows is I
dragged up the text scaling to a larger
size so things might be a little bit
smaller on screen you'll get a sharper
image also which might be something you
may want to look at doing but in its
native 1080p mode here it looks pretty
nice and I've been pretty pleased with
that for gamers though you may not have
the best monitor here this is five
milliseconds response time I think
gamers are looking for something in the
two millisecond range or so I 60 hertz
so it's good for your movie playback and
that sort of thing but if you are a
gamer looking for a hundred and twenty
Hertz this will not be your monitor
because it doesn't go there
there's no portrait mode on it so you
are pretty much locked into here
although i would imagine if you mounted
it
I in portrait mode and instructed your
computer - I treated as such should be
able to get it working in that mode of
thousands of one contrast ratio and that
is pretty much it
pretty run-of-the-mill kind of standard
monitor but I really nice-looking bezels
on it
a very attractive to sit on the desk but
the stand here is just horrible and i
hope they may be a come up with
something better in
future because if you're sending three
hundred dollars on a monitor i think it
needs a little bit more of a sturdy
stand here to sit on cuz it's going to
bounce around quite a bit on you this is
