Check Hard Disk for Errors, Health and Bad Sectors

Sometimes we need to check our hard drives health and status, If you find you're SSD or Hard Drive has errors, you can sometimes solve these computer problems with your drive by checking for errors with the built in windows tool with commands like chkdsk, chkdsk /f and chkdsk /f /r. You can also check your computer's hard disk with HD Tune Pro, I will show you the great feature this utility has to offer. Whether you want to get a temperature for that drive, Check Health (S.M.A.R.T) and temperature for external drives, check for bad sectors or fix and repair common errors with that drive. You can do all this and a lot more with HD Tune Pro.

here for you in this one we're going to
be looking at how we can check out hard
drive for errors now there's a probably
801 different ways of going about doing
this but i'm just going to show you a
piece of software called hasty tune-pro
now it's not a free piece of software
but i do think it's worthy of a shell
because it's got a lot of features in
there and you can get a lot of features
all in one program
I you can disc monitor your drive he can
benchmark your drive you can also check
the healthier drive
scan for errors and all that sort of
good stuff ok
and you can also take snapshots and post
them on forums
if you're asking for help now you may be
asking yourself what am i doing a video
about chicken hard drive for errors
because it's not your basic task but
you'll be surprised there's so many
people that don't even know how to check
their drive for errors or to see whether
their drivers going to bed now there is
loads of other software at their guys
and I know that but this is a video that
wanted to do with this particular piece
of software so let's take a look at it
so once we've got our piece of software
open as you can see here we've got the
hd2 in pro is the latest version now
I've also got it changed on to my
possible drive here which is my USB
flash drive which allows you to check
other drives that are all plugged in okc
don't have to just check the actual CD
Drive you can check external drives or
that's all good stuff with this piece of
software they are going to start off
here with the benchmark area you can see
we've got a benchmark here so you can
bench market and you can do reads all
rights to this drive as well and we need
to do is just click on start and it will
start to benchmark that can you start to
get the minimum and maximum
ok
and remember that this drive is a USB
flash drive is not my C Drive that we're
testing some on a virtual machine but
you got information here which allows
you to get information for this drive
and it gives you all the information
that you need the firmware version the
serial number the capacity buffer and
sexercise and all that so good stuff
okay so your serial numbers really
important as well if you're looking to
send it back under warranty
you will need all that sort of
information ok in also the firmware
information is pretty good as well but
is as you can see here we've got tick
boxes in all the sort of stuff that you
want to keep take this is all but
default have not touched and in this
sort of stuff
now this move on to the health tab here
you can see we've got the health of this
drive here gives you the full
information here
the raw read and arrow right you can see
here the current and worst threshold
data and it's all status is ok you can
run that down have a quick check here as
well and you can see down the bottom
left hand corner health status is ok
screen there
ok and you can see the next update will
continually update this information
every so often you can see it sticking
down here you can get a lot for this as
well if you want to
by clicking on longer and it gives you a
log I'm just going to close it off you
can export this out if you want to and
then you can post that data onto a form
or wherever you like
we're going to move on to the eris can
hear again you can do a quick scan here
if you wish or do a more in-depth scan
but what this is going to do is check
for damage blocks and stuff like that
okay so we're just going to do a quick
scan here and you'll see a lot of green
things going across
now this is because I'm going on quick
scan here if I took a quick scan off it
will be quite some time will take a bit
of time to scan across this is probably
just scanning across the tip of the the
top of the drive there okay
and it will give you some information at
the end of the test here okay
and also you can scan take a snapshot of
these results as well safe safe snapshot
so you can take a snapshot here like I'm
going to do
and we're just going to put this onto a
desktop right now and just say for
instance that had finished we can open
this up now and you can see it's made a
nifty at all
snapshot of that there so you could post
that straight on to a four room and say
this is what's happening
I'm getting red blocks here and that
would mean you've got damage to the dr
and you can show someone that
who's more got some more skill level two
new in that sort of topic and they could
help you and say yet you need to know
drive or run this check up on check disk
on the drive and stuff like that ok so
again Foley usage
yeah you can move on to this here and
scan folder usage this will actually
scan the whole drive and see what
folders being used
you got the erase feature here which is
another nice feature which allows you to
zero the drive and you can select you
can verify as well and you can see here
random feel . and all Gutterman like I
want really advise using this or
governments or method that so pretty
hefty method that's a massive pass on
the driving seat 35 passes a little bit
too much really
and you're going to really sort of her
probably end up damaging the drive at
the end of it all but you can see here
just 20 feel and that all what the dr
clean again we're going to move up to
the top here
foil benchmark again transfer speeds
stuff like that
you can do all this little stuff here
you got plenty of her if information he
can change if you wish and you can
choose your drive letter and stuff like
that if you've got more drives on there
a disc monitor again this will monitor
the disc and you can see without block
size position programs and statistics
and that you can just push start on this
and it will start to monitor that drive
normally sometimes problems arise that
intimate issues and such intimate times
and this could then pop up on the screen
here and then you suddenly realize what
is here a bad sector and it will show up
here okay so you just leave that running
and that will start a monitor
the drive going to stop that again you
can enable the am which is your low
noise and higher high performance
random access again you can start this
read them right
random accesses to the dr you can see so
it's got loads and loads of good
information here now
really what you're looking at ready for
yourself extra tests you can see cash
and stuff like that but what you're
looking at really is some more simple
stuff
I just running some checks on the drive
also disc monitor and also check in a
health of the drive that is also a smart
reading on the drive as well now you can
also see we've got a temperature of that
drive unless you know what the
temperature is you can click on this and
it will give you the temperature the
power cycle temperatures minimum max
current temperature which is 31 celsius
and see if you if you don't know
understand what these are if you post
them on a technical support for my home
my own form or anyone elses form our
they will be out a look at this and tell
you what the danger zone for certain our
drives and stuff like that is ok and it
will give you an idea of what's going on
but you can see here gives you some good
information and you can take snapshots
of all that information there
copy snapshots a clipboard again up the
Topkapi information to your clipboard
options inside your options he can set
this all up
how you wish full test partial test and
so on
benchmarking temperatures you can change
it to Fahrenheit if you live in a
different place where they are working
found out into the Celsius we can show
both if you wish
on the main screen health again wanted
to help during testing you can do that
as well and you can do health and health
check intervals of certain minutes so if
you want to lengthen those up a little
bit so that that would happen so
frequent you can do that or if you want
to lower it down and try to capture it
all the time you can lower that down as
well and you can save all this
information as well i'm going to click
OK here and also you can check the smart
on the drive as well and stuff like that
and you can see we've got some extra
tabs up the top here but that's pretty
much it in a nutshell it's pretty
straightforward and easy to use and that
is the hd2 in pro fight . 60 of release
of this video is a pretty awesome
etiquette and I think it's worthy of a
shout so if you've got errors when
you're driving on check it out then you
can always hit the air scan and just
quickly run a scan on that there and
that will give you some checks are your
drive okay and these will only show up
red
if they're that damaged ok and that's
pretty much it going to end this video
