hello welcome back and thanks for
watching today in our camp tutorial
we're going to work on denoising a photo
the first thing we want to do is you
want to go to the webpage here and we
want to look at

an idea of some of plugins that we're
going to install and a lot more so if
you decide you want to give it a try
the very best way to install this from
this PPA here
just open your terminal copy and paste
these commands one at a time and it will
automatically install the plugins in
GIMP
once you've done that we go to menu go
find em and open it up your order
filters and here's your g bike plugins
down here at the very bottom
today we're going to work on this
landscape and will drop that in camp
here
it's got a lot of noise and noise could
be a lot of different things could be
speckling could be lines could be a lot
of buzz you get that low light
situations bad cameras bad photo just in
general but noise happens and there's a
great tool out there that does a good
job and getting rid of this and the tool
is called lanes
let me show you what I'm talking about
so now that we ended our photo will go
to filters note on the bottom
gee Mike and here's the plugins that we
installed and there's a lot of them and
as time goes by
we'll probably do videos on more of
these plugins but today we're going to
denoise so what you want to do is open G
might scroll down
until you find repair drive down the
tool that were after the plug-in is
called lanes fasting noise is select
that we're going to reset everything and
this is the tool we're going to use to
denoise this photo now out of the box
everything is set to 0 gamma set at one
if you were to pick apply it would do
absolutely nothing
our firm experience it's got a lot of
heavy noise
so what we want to do Israel is raised
these up on
we're not going to start soft on it
experience tells me that we're going to
have to go up high so
luma let's bump that up to about 75
chroma will take that up to 75 as well

we're gonna bump that up to about 80 but
every photo is different
you may have to max out all the stuff by
during generally don't mess with gamma
at all
I just kind of leave that alone and from
here
now that we're going to go ahead and go
with the settings here
let's apply it runs very quick
we slide this over out of the way as you
can minimize it
you see here that we read we have
removed
i would say about ninety seven percent
of all the noise that we're after
there's a little bit up here in the top
left corner and a little bit right here
although net it did a good job I warn
you though
when you go up high with the settings
sometimes you get some blurring and
other objects and i'll show you how to
straighten out to right now
we still got room to go up to try and
get rid of this noise here
so like I said every photos different
and you'll have to play with the
settings for me
we're going to bump this all the way up
to 12 moves chroma
the game alone let's take the day
speckle all the way up to one as well
like i said earlier when you start
getting real high in the settings you
start blurring other objects but for
right now let's go ahead and select
apply and let's see what we have done
yeah we've gotten rid of almost all of
it there's a little bit up here that I
can see what the rest of it looks
fantastic
we've done a great job so we can go
ahead and we can close
she might but before we close I want to
show you something else when you get
real good here then you can move on to
this setting here bylanes has even more
that you can do so if you've got a photo
that's real tricky and you can't get it
out by the fast annoys you may be able
to you may be able to get it out from
the tool below
maybe we'll do a video another day going
to be honest i'm always starting my for
my photos out with the Fast & noise
it works great and that's what the
videos about today is the fast
I think we did a great job
so we see that we've got some blurring
going on it's not sharp
so we go to filters again we go to
enhance and we go down to the sharpen
and this is set at ten out of my default
well this is pretty blurry so why don't
we go ahead and just bump this up to
about 50
you don't want to over sharpen then just
look really bad
you might get some other noise so we'll
just go 50 halfway up
we select ok and did a pretty good job
the rocks are now more clear we did not
bring back any noise
pretty good we can go up a little bit
higher
but before we do you never want to
sharpen on top of your old setting so
right click on the image edit and undo
sharpen now we do it
so we're at 50 let's go up to 75
select ok that was the sweet spot that
did our fantastic job and I think we're
done
so let's just quickly recap what we did
we added the photo with was terrible
we went to the filters went to G might
and we went to repair are here and we
used lanes faster noise
we went up a little bit high with it but
we have a lot of room to go
if that doesn't do the trick you can use
lanes other tool
this is the Advanced Options and you may
get out of there fast annoys is always
done me a great job
we were done we had some blurring went
back to filters went to enhance and we
used our sharpen tool and went up kind
of how I was at the 75
you got rid of that and I think that we
did a fantastic job on this photo
as far as denoising and sharpening it up
now we can go ahead and we wanted we can
export that to New
we're going to close him and then we
start doing some side by side comparison
