Ubuntu Basics Honestech VHS to DVD 3.0
Honestech VHS to DVD 3.0 device for analog video/audio capture does not have any Linux drivers and does not work with Ubuntu. If you dual boot Windows with Ubuntu you can use this device from within Windows, then later boot Ubuntu and edit the video. I have not been successful operating the device from an instance of Windows being run via virtualization from within Ubuntu. Honestech customer service is pretty good. Naturally, I did try running all sorts of drivers, alas, to no avail. To be sure, as every year passes, there is less and less need for analog video drivers. However, an analog video camera is rock steady and does not exhibit that funny-looking "wiggliness" characteristic of digital cameras. In that one sense, analog is superior to digital. If you know of and can recommend such a device that works well with Ubuntu, I would certainly like to hear about the item.

hi my name is Bob by making a very short
tutorial into Ubuntu basics discussing
the honest eg VHS to DVD
three-point whole device for capturing
analog video
and sending it over to your Ubuntu Linux
computer
and the short it does not work it will
not work I called customer service and
they told me they have no plans
for developing %uh Linux set %uh
for instructions to make it work in
Linux Ubuntu it does work exceedingly
well
using Windows anna says so on the side
of the box
it comes as a small plastic box with no
batteries in it and on the side of the
box you can see there is a
%uh three callers uva I'll left and
right stereo and
video and then there's video ass and
then over here to the side
there is a US be port and he comes with
a
small booklet and some actually pretty
good software
but you're never ever ever going to get
it to run
in new budget I did use this thing dual
boot using a Windows a
on one side and then I could
successfully
carry over the video to the Ubuntu for
editing and so forth it will not work
though if you virtualize Windows
inside up Ubuntu on the side of the box
it tells you from the get go
nothing about using I
Linux and so day if they aren't making
no plans at all to
develop the Linux version for it my name
