Android 101: How To Scan / Use a QR Code

So maybe you've seen one of these square barcodes that have a bunch of dots in them somewhere and wondered, "What the hell is that mess?" Well, that mess is called a QR code, which stands for Quick Reference Code. A QR code is basically a barcode like you find on any product you purchase but instead of bringing up a product number when scanned, it can bring up a lot of different information (i.e. a website, or even a command for your device to head to the Market to show you an app to download). Unlike a regular barcode, these cannot be scanned with a straight red line in your camera's viewfinder (like you may see in other barcode scanning apps), it needs a special program to scan it. calm and today we're doing an Android
one on one post on how to scan a QR code
with your android device
ok so in order to scan with these QR
codes by the way Q R stands for quick
reference case you were curious
you're gonna need to download an app
that's able to scan them
so go to the market and search for one
that is really popular as quick mark so
quick
mark one word and there's a bunch of
them out there if you type in QR code
you're gonna get a bunch of as well but
this one is pretty popular so we're just
going to click it and install it and
wait for that to install
ok once you download the app we're going
to scroll to it going to open our apps
here and find it click on it and now
we're going to scan barcodes and this is
going to give us a little box that we
can use to scan barcodes with you don't
have to push the shutter button or
camera button
you simply just put the bar code within
that and then it will do its thing
so okay so then you're going to take
your device as soon as you put the QR
code within that box it will
automatically grab it and then display
whether it's contact information or
whatever it may be this is a website if
you click the stop button at the bottom
it's going to take me to that website
besides that another neat little feature
of this app in particular some of the
other ones have these kind of features
too but you click on share and now you
can also share a bookmark that you have
an application something on your
clipboard address book contact
so basically you click on a tease you
choose what you want to share and it
will generate a little QR code for you
and whoever you want to share it with
would then take their cue are scanning
application
turn it on hover over your device and it
would scan that image right off of your
phone and they would automatically have
that application that whatever it may be
so that's pretty cool the other cool
thing too is you can also do something
like you know tap my profile it will
generate a code for your information and
they can scan that and we'll add them
are at you into their address book
automatically so it's a neat way of
exchanging business cards about actually
exchanging business cards
