Audi A6 4G C7 HDMI Input -Chromecast,FireTV,AppleTV- german, english subs
HDMI - Composite Converter:

Diese Adapter Chinch Stecker-Stecker:

folgendes Eximtrade AMI - RCA3 Adapter-Kabel:

Welcome to my Audi A6 4G C7 (built 2012)
it has the big Audi MMi with touch and an AMI Connector, which will be used to have a video input from a Google Chromecast via HDMI
It looks like you'll be able to use every HDMI Source to play content
and thats what we'll try now
what you need first, is a Adapter Cable "RCA3 to AMI"
AMI is the Audi Media Interface (car must be equiped with that)
it has 3 Chinch connectors
these are female connectors
So you'll need additional adapters male to male ...
to convert the plugs from female to male
I've already done this for two of it and will do the third now
next you'll need this Musou Converter
this is a converter from HDMI to a splitted analog Video + Audio (left/right) signal
Maybe you can read it, if the camera gets the focus
Attention: be sure to buy a converter that supports an 1080p input (have a look to some reviews at the Online-Shop with the smiley on the outer package)
Thats very important, because most of these converters are sold with this 1080p support, but finaly support 720p only, which is unusable
As said, we'll connect a Chromecast. in my case it's the old one from the first generation
My car has the WIFI Hotspot as well, so it should be easy to connect via the onboard network
As a power-adapter i'm using a Wicked chili Dual-USB-Charger with 2A at each port, but every other adapter will work fine too.
Let's connect everything
Please excuse working with only one hand...
but the video wasn't planed.
...but...
... I just didn't find any good information regarding what I need..
.. to connect that.
For example, there's no TV Tuner needed for that
Of course, i've already tried all this before with an Amazon FireTV Stick
And this worked well
now let's see, if the Chromecast will work as well
(won't show how you have to connect a USB-Charger)
at least everyone who wants to do something like this should know, how this has to be done :-P
connect the charger to the car
ready for ignition
again: Chromecast ...
.. Musou HDMI to analog converter..,
.. the Adapter-Cable "AMI to RCA3"
(I've bought a Cable from China for only 12 Euro, just for testing
but you can also buy the original Audi Cable for rough 39 Euro)
I don't think this is necessary
Of course there can be differences, but as long as it works ...
Ok. lets start ignition
There's already a signal
and..
..i guess this looks like a Chromecast!
just letting it boot up
as you see, i've already tried it with an Amazon FireTV Stick
There it is
As I'm recording with my phone, i cant show you anything
But, it's already connected to the Wifi, as I'm using the same SSID and Password as in my home network
so, it's already online.
Summary: Audi A6 4G (July 2012)
no TV Tuner!
Only with Audi Media Interface
and the big MMI with Touch
