Visual Analytics
can help analyst
to become citizen data
scientists by providing them
access to data visualization
and analytical techniques they
never had access to before.
These easy to use
analytics spark curiosity
and generate questions.
Curiosity leads to innovation
and better questions
lead to better answers.
So let's get started.
This is SAS Visual Analytics.
On the left hand side,
I have my variables.
In the middle, I
have my workspace.
And on the right, I have
context sensitive menus.
Along the top, I have
icons that depict
all of the different types of
visualizations and analyses
I can perform.
If I drag and drop a
variable on to my workspace,
Visual Analytics will
create a graph that's
appropriate for that variable.
In this case I drag
category variable over,
so it created a
bar chart for me.
Visual Analytics can also
work with geographies
and hierarchies.
If I take this
geography hierarchy
and drag it onto my
workspace, Visual Analytics
generates a map.
Because it's based
on a hierarchy,
I can drill down into detail.

From here I could add
additional variables
to answer more questions.

When we move beyond
basic visualization,
you may want to try something
a little bit different.
When we drag and drop all
of the numeric variables
on the workspace,
Visual Analytics
creates a correlation
matrix for us.
Correlation show us the
strength of relationship
between variables.
Very often these are validating,
so it gives us an idea
that are data is in good shape.
Every now and then you may find
an "aha" moment in the data.
SAS Visual Analytics helps
you to easily explore
data, find relevant patterns,
and provide self service
analysis.
