Frank Rybarcyk's Shakespeare Fishing Tackle Collection is one of the finest private collections of fishing tackle ever assembled. The collection started in his garage, and then it moved into his basement. It got to be so big and so broad, that Frank couldn't possibly curate it. So he finally decided he needed to specialize in one type of fishing tackle. Since his primary passion was for fishing lures made by The Shakespeare Company, that was where he shifted his focus. Eventually, even this newly-focused collection grew to the point where he no longer had the room to store and curate it. So Frank and his wife Sherry built a mini-museum behind his house to store the collection. He custom-built display cases and shelving, and made it a place where he can go to get away and pursue his passion.

elyria ohio and I'm a Shakespeare tackle
collector but when i first started
collecting I kept everything and just
kept in a basement
shine it up and hung it up and I needed
some kind of direction
I had some old stuff and tackle box it
was my grandfather's and then acquired
as a few other pleat pieces and then I
had a friend of mine in Amherst Ohio me
Mike Woolever that was having a garage
sale fishing tackle garage sale so I
went over and then the met mike and i'm
looking at the looking at some of his
big boards official or just how much
take for all of it because you don't
want all this is dumb kids so he he
basically took me under his wing and in
told me what I had what he didn't have
what i need to be looking for and
remember that i was at a show in Toledo
Ohio and the guy had a tackle box and he
had a couple of lures are called
paddlers and they turned out to be
Shakespeare lures and that's when I said
come get her and everything else and I'm
going to keep a spare
one thing that I've always prided myself
on is it might is my catalog collection
and obviously i like the catalogs I can
read about this baby when it was when it
was the new and and look at the colors
that was made and then you can see some
of them there were that were not not a
catalog color if you will but a color
that an angler said hey can you paint
this thing blue and white for me you
know by if I'm getting this
this rainbow colored Shakespeare you
know and ok I've got it in nine
different variations of bodies
you know and you get that last one it's
kind of a kind of kind of a relief like
a man i got them all now but you know
that what really messes you have is when
you go back and look there's another one
you never seen before you know it's not
the catalog that they made that
particular bait in that particular color
it's that's what drives
that's because it's pressure huh I mean
whatever the amount of money that the
surprise in this over the years is has
never been for foreign investment if you
will it's just just because of the
passion of enjoy doing it and then
meeting people and knowing people that
that we do this together
this really makes it really makes it
nice and you grow as you grow thru your
life that you know it's it's nice to
have a passion for something else rather
than just your work
just your family and something that you
can go go do and enjoy and the majority
of the time do we have
