Zonal OCR Demo: OCR PDF Data Capture

A step by step demonstration on how to go about converting a scanned image into PDF format, selecting data capture zones on this image, and automating its delivery to a pre-determined folder by using Reform VDP's Zonal OCR feature.

During this demonstration, you will observe firsthand the intuitiveness of both our VDP Form Designer and Workflow Designer, and see how our Zonal OCR (optical character recognition) capabilities fit into this document workflow.

First, the scanned document is opened within our Reform VDP Designer and properly edited using our Zonal OCR tool. When the same type of document is then placed through a scanner, Reform then takes this scanned document and auto-populate fields such as the client name, quote number, etc. Immediately after this, the pre-filled document is routed to its appropriate destination in PDF format.

Now this PDF document can be easily searched and found for future reference.

Through our Reform VDP Designer, a user is able to adjust the flow of a document, include new layouts, edit form labels, and much more. Of course, its most powerful feature relies in its ability to draw-in specific regions of a document for Zonal Data Capture purposes.

Our Workflow Designer functions in parallel to our Reform VDP Designer, and its drag and drop interface is a true time-saver given its ease-of-use. Drag the file icon into the blank canvas, then decide where this document is going, and select the appropriate icon to drag onto the workflow canvas. After selecting either a home folder, email, fax, or archive system icon, draw a line between the file icon and the destination icon, and you are finished putting together the automatic routing command for this specific document.
