Password Protect Back End of Access Db

In this video I show you how to password protect the back end of a split database.

You need to:

Split the database
Delete the links to the tables in the front end
Open the back end in exclusive mode
Add a password
Close the back end and open the front end
Link the front end to the back end
Add the password once

tutorials and this video i'm gonna be
showing you how to split and encrypt a
database and when you split a database
you split the tables into you sent to
make two separate databases put the
tables and put them in one and then you
have all the forms reports queries
macros research and put it in the other
one but i often you want to make sure
that someone can just access the backend
very easily so you want to put password
on it
however password on here and then you
try and use the front end because it
requires a password it doesn't always
work a little bit tricky so i'm gonna be
showing you how to do that and i'm
fairly sure the system i'm gonna show
you i'm showing you in 2010 one finisher
works 2007 and 2013 as well
ok so I'm going to go back to the
old-skool little bit so I've got the
teaching institute software system my
first recommendation is make a backup
which is simply a matter of pressing
ctrl-c ctrl-v and then you've got
yourself a backup and put that somewhere
safe so if you do anything major to the
structure that is make it back up a
second let's open it up
ok this is going back to the old-skool
little bit with this database system
ok so how do we split the database well
number one before we do that let's just
take a look at the tables so we got
tables here use your stuff queries forms
reports we're going to be doing is
splitting database and then creating
links to these tables which will
actually be housed in another database
so to split on the ribbon close that the
database tools and on the move day a
click on access database is a split
database and then we just got choose a
place for the front end and back end so
I'm just gonna put it on the desktop
split that a place Spitzer successfully

ok so this is what it looks like so this
here which is teaching software system

now holds the tables let's take a quick
look at that and in fact nothing else
and this now doesn't hold any tables but
hold everything else if you take a look
we can see that this means that the
tables are linked so in order to put a
password on the back end what we need to
do is we need to click on every single
table that's here and we need to delete
it so if the lead every single table
when we close it now what we do is we
open up the back end and he says we open
the back in we gotta file and we need to
close database so we still got access
open we've actually closed that database
and then we go to the Open button here
click on that means find the database we
want to open which in this case is the
back end so that one there and we need
to choose from here open exclusive so
open exclusive means that we are about
shadow without the only person your
computer as you like that has access to
this database even though its house on a
desktop access doesn't always know that
we've opened exclusively got the table
so we gotta file we're going to encrypt
with password and the password only put
