Remove e-Book DRM from Kindle, Nook, and Other e-Readers for Free

This tutorial shows how to use free Calibre e-Book software to remove the Digital Rights Management (DRM) from books you have purchased so that you can move them to other e-Readers. For example, if you have a Kindle e-Book and wish to put it on your Nook, transfer it to your computer, import into Calibre with these plugins, and then you can copy it to your Nook.

in this video I'm going to show you how
to remove the digital rights management
from your ebooks that you've purchased
so you can view them on other readers in
order to do this you will need the
colibri e-reader software installed
which is free if you don't have that yet
please pause this and go to the URL on
the screen to download and install that
the next thing we're going to do is go
to the drm removal tools that we need it
in a zip file at the URL that you see on
the screen
when you go there there will be a place
to click to download the zip file click
on that and save it in this case I'm
going to save it as it save it on my
desktop
yes need to be able to find it
once that's downloaded go to the file
right click on it and extracted to its
own folder you'll see that inside the
folder there is a folder called calibra
plugins that's the one that we will be
using now open up your colibri software
and go to preferences and down to
plugins and then load plugin from file
then browse to that clear a plug-in
folder
if you save it on your desktop will be
on your desktop i happen to have this
downloaded already in my downloads
directory and select the plug-in that
you want to install this particular
plug-in is the kindle plug-in but you go
ahead and do this for all the plugins in
that directory
on the kindle plug-in will have to go to
the customized plug-in and put the
serial number of your kindle here that's
what will allow the software to remove
the drm and the same goes for other
plugins once you install them click on
customize plug in and see if there's any
information there that it needs from you
to complete the task
here I'm just loading the kindle plug-in
and a couple of PDF protected plugins
and I'm going to check for two plugins
that i have installed if there are no
updates that's fine if there are updates
you can just download them and let them
install then make sure you click apply
just going to go back in and make sure
that they're under file type plugins
there's my kindle plug-in and you're
pretty much done all you have to do now
is going to the ad books dialog and
select whatever books that are drm
protected that you want to add to your
library and it will add them if it's a
kindle ebook it will add it here with
the drm protection removed then you'll
be able to put it on whatever reader you
want to put it on
