Summary of this Tutorial:
The first method is to translate your site yourself using the polylang plugin.
Start by installing and activating the polylang plugin.
go to Settings, Language to configure the plugin.
You have three tabs to deal with, the language tab lets you add the languages to use.
Under strings translation tab you'll add the site title, description and date and time to use.
Finally you see the settings tab and this is where you choose your default language as well as the URL structure.
We recommend that you keep the first selection so that if you ever disable the plugin it will not break your links.
You can even set it to detect browser preferred languages.
The other method to translate would be to use the Google Language Translator plugin.
After installing and activating the plugin go to Settings, Google Language Translator to configure.
You can check each box to pick which languages to show on your site.

Welcome to WPBeginner and thank you for watching.
In today's video, you'll learn how to
create a multilingual WordPress site.
A great way to get more traffic to your site
is to make it multilingual and the best part
is you don't need to setup a complicated multi-site
or have separate WordPress installs to do it.
There are two ways you can make your site
multilingual and we'll cover them both here.
The first and best way is to translate the
site yourself using the polylang plugin.
This relies on you translating the content yourself
and will be more accurate.
To get started, install and activate the polylang
plugin, then go to Settings-->Language to configure.
From here we have three tabs to deal with.
The language tab lets you add the languages
you'll be using for your site including the
default one that you want.
Next, under strings translation tab, you'll add the site title, description, and the date and time to use.
Finally you see the settings tab and this
is where you choose your default language
as well as the URL structure.
For most beginners, we recommend that you
keep the first selection so that if you ever
disabled the plugin, it won't break all the
links.
For multi language SEO benefits, you can choose
the second option with the pretty permalinks.
You wan to detect browser preferred language
here
and then we'll click save changes.
Now we can work on our posts. We can either
edit what we have or add new ones and we first want to
write the post in the default language, then
click on the + button next the the other language that
we want on the site and then we'll have to write the content in that language.
You can also translate the categories and
tags over here. We'll just add the category
in the default language and then add the others
as well.
You can add a language switcher to your site
by going to Appearance-->Widgets and drag
the switcher over and choose which one we want
to show.
Now we can see what the site looks like on the site.
And this is what it looks like when you switch.
The second way to do this is by adding the Google
language translator plugin to the site.
After we install and activate the plugin we can go to Settings-->Google Language Translator to configure.
From here I can check the box to activate it and down here just pick which languages to show on the site.
And now you have a multilingual WordPress
site.
