EoIP: Ethernet over IP
Ethernet over IP (EoIP) Tunneling is a MikroTik RouterOS protocol that creates an Ethernet tunnel between two routers on top of an IP connection. The EoIP interface appears as an Ethernet interface. When the bridging function of the router is enabled, all Ethernet traffic (all Ethernet protocols) will be bridged just as if there where a physical Ethernet interface and cable between the two routers (with bridging enabled). This protocol makes multiple network schemes possible.
Transporting Ethernet frames within IP packets in order to link LANs or tunnel traffic in an IP network. Normally, IP packets ride over Ethernet frames; however, EOIP flips the process, placing layer 2 frames inside layer 3 packets.

ethernet over IP oreo IP you probably
found this video because you're looking
at your dd-wrt router and you found the
tab called VoIP tunnel and you weren't
sure what that was
that's what caused me to find VoIP and
make this video once I learned what it
was there is not much information on the
internet at all about what VoIP is and
there's not particularly too much
information insulating on why you would
use it or how you use it
dd-wrt does have a help page and i'll
take a look at this but it doesn't
really tell you much practical use of
powered what geoip is or how you would
use it and quite simply I've made this
diagram
ok let's say you have got two routers or
two switches and you have an ego IP
tunnel setup basically what this means
is if let's say this port here and this
port here are tunnel together whatever
data you pass through this port will
come out of this port whatever data you
pass through this port will come out of
this port it is simply i guess you'd is
not for mirroring but it would it would
be that for mirroring these two ports
become one in the same and they can be
anywhere else in the world and they
would be connected over that tunnel of
course they would be latency involved
but the two ports essentially are linked
together over the internet and it is
protocol independent when you think of
ethernet over IP that sounds backward
because I pee runs over ethernet you
know internets pretty much just a
cabling standard but in this case this
technology is meant for legacy
connections if you have a program an
application or device on your network
that doesn't know how to communicate
using the IP protocol e predates the IP
protocol you can use VoIP to get it
working on your network without it
knowing that there's a tunnel in place
or without without in the link that the
internet is in place that's the only
practical use I can find for you I p
