How to create, split, merge, and mark-up PDF files using Preview in Mac OS X 10.5.

hello my name is Andrew grant hand today
I wanted to show you how to you
create modify and edit a PDF document
and Mac OS X version 10.52 but I'd like
show your set
built into the Apple operating system
you can create a PDF
from anything you can see on the screen
basically by
selecting File and Print if you can
print it you can create a PDF
if you can't print it you can always do
a screenshot
and create images whatever you see on
your screen 3 screenshots and
for more information about that should

work with screenshots here I have a
webpage brought up in Safari
and I want to create a sample PDF
to you work with here to show you
exactly how we're gonna create it
caricom I got to file and select Print
and notice it says precht current frame
now this is something that may wonder
about
if you're in a web browser have frames
where the web pages separated
two separate parts in Safari I know a
few
right click on anyone portion you can
print
just that frame however their sauce the
option to print
the window so if you'd like to print the
entire
web browser window with all the frames
you can select the
print window notice here and a preview
the left side frame is also include with
the main body frame
so you've ever wondered about that
that's kinda cool for right now wanna do
is just go ahead and select this frame
go ahead and say file print current
frame
and %uh notice just the right side of
the page
so what I'd like to do here he is to set
whatever print
I preferences I what how many copies
here's a great situation where
if you take a look at the document you
decide hey there's page 3
a4 page force black I don't want
page four you can come over here and say
print page 123
can instead of selecting pressed to
patch your printer
slept PDF pull-down and select save as
PDF
and then what you see here is

simply select the sidebar
to appear or disappear I that can also
be done here and the
View menu slick sidebar I like my
sidebar go to work with pages
notice I can take a page hold the mouse
down and drag it this red line appears
indicating where this new page will be
placed in the quarter
so that's how you can modify the page
water on a PDF
let's go ahead take a look at emerging
pts now there's a second PDF here
see just opened up over here another
preview window I can actually take a
page from here and drag it out of that
preview into the next one you know this
is a green ball
near my mouse showing that I will be
making a copy this page I'm not removing
it from the original document
and the red line shows a to tell me
where it is that it will be placed in
the order that document by letting go of
the mouse
I can see here that I now have
chapter to versus 11 through 23
as my fourth page and if I wanted to I
can actually bring and patch
the first page it that day see we have
five pages in a document
we go from the endogenous a chapter 1&2
Genesis chapter she read just seems to
flow so that's one way of doing that
we can select documents I'm holy cow my
shift key and clicking
to have them and then I'm going to
command delete and you notice I just got
rid of
the two extra pages we added to this
document
now if you want to merge multiple PDF
files together like we have here
I've got this first one opened I could
take the second one can just drag it in
notice
dragging the whole document just like
dragging a single page from one preview

been appended to this one

happened to be at the end my document
one of the other things I want to show
you how to do here was how to mark up or
modify
a PDF knows me go to the Tools menu here
we can choose to you mark-up highlight
strikethrough or underlined text or we
can and rotate
which is to had an oval at a rectangle
added note or add a link so as I
select text here by the way I have to
drag my mouse over text
now those trouble menus for markup will
become available they work great out
before
so I kid friend says hi like this text

you'll now see it's highlighted in
yellow is so we had highlighter marker
on it
I can come over here and trek across
this
and select mark-up
underlined text I also what we can do is
we can select
the markup tools: such as
and oval and you might wanna come over
here and say it well
let's just run 04 right here
and let go and now I can hold em i mouse
and drag that overall
only on the bottom right corner can you
track it to the right
upper down so if I want to make this a
real skinny overall
I can then grab in the middle with the
mouse and
lighted up just wear what click off and
there you have it well that sums up our
