Acronis True Image 2013 creating an image !

Taking an image of a fresh install of the operating system with drivers and programs, all peachy. The image is useful to recover your system in the event of a unrepairable loss of the os or if you wanted to just re-do your system , install a new hdd, ect . Warning: if you don't know what you're doing this can erase your whole system. I always use a 2 drive system with one OS/programs drive and another data storage drive. This makes it easier for me to restore to a "fresh" state again. This is just the basic idea , you can get into incremental backups and alot more. Always burn (at slow speed) a copy of your image onto a data dvd or dvd-dl, ect so you have it as a last resort. Dont trust external drives ! I also have Paragon and like it . I'm not an expert , just workin on my own computers since the Vic 20 ... this is just "Fyi" video to get a look at it .

okay i'm going to show you how I make a
backup image of the computer using a
Cronus acronis true image been using a
chronic for about seven years before
that used norton ghost that actually ran
off of a floppy disk basically you have
to install a Cronus on your computer and
then from within a Cronus there's an
option in there to make a boot CD you
make the boot CD and this disc will load
without windows basically plops the disc
into your computer and you restart the
computer
the computer should boot off of the
acronis desk
the cd-rom spinning up there it goes
caught it
it's going to analyze my system
ok this is the home screen take a
Chronister image now it's going to
analyze the hard drives in my computer
to in there that one extra drive that
has windows and that's a storage drive
for storing data this is just a couple
years old used server i picked up 8400
it's going to be a secondary music
computer something to play with
so anyway here's Cronus page couple
options on here once you've made your
image if you have trouble down the line
you need to restore your computer you
pick recovery for right now I'm going to
make a backup
this is a fresh install of windows on
this system all my programs are on their
my drivers are all set
everything's exactly how i like it and
it hasn't been beautified with any web
surfing yet so it's a nice fresh install
so it back up not down here I don't want
to back up any data I want to back up
the entire disk the entire partition ok
down there that just shows you how much
is the size of what I'm going to backup
it already picked this partition this is
disc 1 and partition one of disc one is
where Windows is I basically just have
the disk partition in the two parts the
first partition is on the outer part of
the platter if you make two partitions
basically makes the hard drive faster
so I'm going to take an image of that
partition hit next
now it's going to ask you where do you
want to store that image
what's the target of the backup you
could you could put it anywhere you
could you could plug in one of these
external drive make your image so that I
could use a little thumb drive
i'm going to make the image and store it
on another hard drive right inside my
computer but it's a good idea once that
image is made to later burn it onto a
DVD this for safekeeping so choose the
location i'm going to store it in here
this is on the second hard drive in my
computer you could name it whatever you
like a limit on name is image1 you could
actually rename this once the image is
made you can go back and navigate to it
within windows and rename it but
actually i'll just let it generate them
simple enough
now it's just showing you what's gonna
happen next
that's the summary of operations that
are going to happen it's going to create
the image it's going to save the image
and you hit proceed now i'll show you
how long it takes
Cronus is usually pretty fast
alright that what it shows you initially
is almost always around and I'm not
going to fast-forward this i'm going to
let go so you can see actually how long
it takes that you don't take a minute or
two and like I said once this image is
done you want to go back into windows
and open up
Nero or whatever CD burning software you
use and just burn an image burn a copy
of that image onto a DVD or possibly a
dual layer DVD if it's more than about
four-and-a-half gigs picked then take
that disc stick it in a folder what I
like to do is put it right inside the
computer like that
this way you know where it is you ever
have to restore your computer
ok so it's almost done
alright it's done now take the disc out
so when i reboot windows it doesn't try
them off of the Cronus again so now it
should go back to windows and we'll just
navigate to the image take a look at it
one thing I left out was that when the
image is done being created you could
actually validate it at that at that
step
it's a good idea to do that
I mean you could actually validate the
image anytime you'd like
right
I will take a look here
that's where I told it to store the
image and there it is fine
one other thing like I said right now
would be a good idea to open up a CD or
DVD burning software and burn choose
burn data disk and then drag this on to
the burner and burn a copy of that into
a data DVD if it's more than 4.7 about
four-and-a-half gigs you could use a
dual layer DVD so everything crashes and
you lose everything
then you would reboot your system off
this disc and once a Cronus comes up
pull this disc out stick the disc in
your drive that has the image on it and
then you can navigate right to that
image and restore off the desk so it's a
good idea to do that
that's it that's a Cronus it's pretty
good program i've been using it for
quite a long time
