GIMP Tutorial 2015: How to Batch Edit Photos and Add Watermark
http://www.youtube.com/DaviesMediaDesign
In this tutorial I show you how to bulk or batch edit photos, including scaling images and adding your watermark (a.k.a. logo) to every image in a group of images at the same time. This is a HIGHLY useful tool for photographers or businesses that need to edit a large number of images without wanting to open each image up to edit individually. It will save you a TON of time. This tutorial was done in GIMP, which is essentially a FREE version of Photoshop, and uses the plugin BIMP.

hello and welcome to yet another
tutorial by Davies media design my name
is michael Davies and today i'm going to
be showing you a cool plugin that allows
you to edit a batch of images so
essentially you can edit like 10 20 50
images at a time i'm using this plugin
so that way you don't have to go back
and individually edit photos one by one
which three photographers out there you
know that can take a long time
this is something i believe that is
available in Photoshop game is obviously
the free version of photoshop you can
download it at game . or so let's go
ahead and get started so i'm in a game
version 2.8 here for windows i'm going
to go ahead and show you what plug i'm
talking about here this is called badge
image manipulation and how you get that
as you go to the website here you can we
literally just type type of him
bimp and that'll take you to this page
right here the download page and when
you click here on installer for windows
and go ahead and download a dot exe file
which is very simple to open just like
any other installation you don't have to
do anything else except you know just
click through the menu and finish the
installation is going to automatically
install it to your GIMP and next time
you don't you give you gotta make sure
you close game first next time you open
it up tho you gotta file attached image
manipulation and there is and you know
I've only played around with this for a
little while now but it's very easy to
use very user friendly so what I'm going
to do is I'm going to go ahead and
resize a group of villages and i'm going
to add my watermark to that image now
this is useful if let's say you edited a
bunch of very large images already you
know you did your cropping did your
color balance that sort of thing which
you can now watch my earlier tutorials
on how to do those sorts of things but
essentially you know if all you're going
to do is resize
two images and you just don't want to
have to open every single one
individually and you want to add your
watermark to the bottom and you don't
want to have to again open amala
individually or even doing while you're
editing each individual image because i
just add some extra stabbing it takes
too much time when you can do is go
ahead and click Add right here and
there's a feature on here that says add
watermark we're going to do that second
the first thing I'm going to do is
resize these so i click add three sides
said to a percentage of the original
preserve aspect ratio and i'm going to
come down here and change the width 2 20
that's going to be twenty percent
because i clicked preserve aspect ratio
is high will automatically adjust to
twenty percent when I hit the tab or i
click with him at Heights area i'm going
to set this interpolation quality i'm
just going to keep it a cubic and click
OK and now you have that manipulation
set right here so you can go ahead and
add another 1 i'm going to go ahead and
add my watermark but you can see here
you crop images if it's going to be a
uniform crop across the board flip or
rotate if all of them are facing the
wrong way color correction if they're
all similar lighting color that sort of
thing sharper blur you know color
correction i would recommend doing
across multiple images unless you really
pressed on time because you know every
phone is probably going to be a little
bit different but if they're close
enough and you don't really have a
preference or you don't really care that
much
you go and do that save yourself some
time so i'm gonna go ahead and add a
watermark here and you can use the
option of doing the text watermark so if
you want to do a simple like copyright
by Davies media design she doesn't 15 go
ahead and type that in and you can
change the font here in the color and
you can also change the opacity here you
want to be a little bit transparent so
you want to create that opacity down the
like fifty percent something like that
or you have the option here of doing
image watermark and that's what I want
to do something go ahead and check that
and i'm going to go ahead and open my
file type now I went ahead and do this
ahead of time and so it's a PNG file and
a PNG file has no background so you know
that's the aisle ideal thing for a
watermark
so you click the folder layer and
that'll bring up your folders on your
computer so I've already know tested it
out so I have my watermark sitting right
here but if you wanted to you know fish
for the files you just click on you know
whatever folder here and you can go
ahead and find your file so again this
is a PNG i'm going to click open now you
can position the image however you want
you can do the top left top right this
dead center of the image I'm going to
place mine in the bottom right but to
keep it from being all the way in the
corner i'm going to go over here to
distance to edge and just add safe 30
pixels and you know the distance to the
edge is going to depend on the size of
the image itself and how far you prefer
to be from the edge so i'm going to go
ahead and click ok so now i have my
settings ready for the the batch
manipulation or the bulk manipulation
the next thing you want is an output
folder for your images you know right
now you can help put into like your
desktop but it'll just show up you know
you'll have if you do like hundred
images they will all show up on your
desktop and be kind of a pain for you
so what I recommend doing is just kind
of like right-clicking on here
new folder create that folder and then
when you're ready to output you can
change the folder right here i'm going
to go ahead and click on there click on
my desktop and i created a folder i mean
here's the new folder i just did but I
create a folder earlier the rig in
photos photos resize go ahead and click
that and that's where all your images
are going to output to once you go ahead
and do this batch manipulation so the
next thing i want to do is come down
here to add images
and i'm going to click add folders you
can add single images if you want but
i'm going to click add folders just you
know to make it faster so here's the
folder I created so go ahead and click
inside this folder and you'll see all my
images here or click Add and now you see
all the images right here from that
folder ready to go and no be manipulated
in bulk buy this plug-in here so i'm
gonna go ahead and click apply and now
you're going to get the loading bar here
and that's going to you know show you
the progress on these photos being
edited in bulk
ok so when the files are done being
edited you'll see a message here saying
and all files in process hopefully with
zero errors
once that's done go ahead and click
close and go ahead and open that folder
where you added your resize images with
the watermark and going to open one of
these up and you'll see I have my photo
photo here which i haven't actually
edited ahead of time anyway here is that
PNG file that is now in the corner and I
just said 30 pixels because the size of
this image is I believe probably in like
the 1800 pixel range might be a little
bigger smaller than that it came off the
edge
not too much but not too little so it
you know there's a little bit of space
there and you have your watermark there
and if I shuffle through all these
images now you'll see that that
watermark is on all of them and these
are all resizing right click and go to
properties if you want to go see that
they've actually been resized so that's
it for this tutorial thanks for watching
