I'll check it out i'm installing a
ceramic tile backsplash behind this
cooktop but I've got a little problem
see this pipe right here it's for one of
those fancy pot fillers where water will
fill one of the cooking pots
I've got to cut a little notch in this
tile to be able to get around that pipe
i'm tim carter 4s the bill calm and in
the next 90 seconds I'm going to show
you how to use a special tool to cut
that you shaped notch
the best way is to put the tile in place
and take a pencil and make a mark as to
what you have to cut out go a little
wider because you've got a big
discussion plate that will cover up any
overcut i transferred the semicircular
cut to the backside of the tile and you
can actually see where I tried to cut it
with my wet diamond saw and it's just
not going to work the straight lines are
not deep enough we need a different tool
this is the tool I'm going to use to
make that small semicircular cut its a
rod saw that actually fits in a standard
hacksaw frame the rod saw is made with
small pieces of carbide they're glued to
a piece of steel rod i'm ready to cut
the tile and I have to cut it with a
good side down so I like to put a paper
towel or a soft rag between the tile on
the workbench the tile does not get
scratched
ok I got a little problem here if I
can't get the saw inside this whole so
the way you do it is you actually have
to take the rod saw off the hacksaw
frame and then you actually put it back
together while the saw is inside the
actual hole in the tiled
Oh check it out let's see if it works
ho ho you got it see that it's going to
work perfectly
that's how you cut holes in ceramic tile
