so this is a pretty big disclaimer I'm
going to be talking about how to make
your console more pc like yes I know
everyone is going to probably jump on
this both consoles and PC fanboys pc
master race is going to be in the
comments console peasants are going to
be getting upset
listen I have a pc i have consoles I
like a controller i like a mouse and
keyboard it doesn't matter to me i am
100-percent unbiased between both of
them pcs are better at certain things
consoles are better for the consumer
many times it's just an opinion based
matter you can have numbers and facts
but at the end of the day if you prefer
one over the other
that's your own decision now with that
in mind let's discuss a few things that
you can do to your console that you
might not even be aware of
firstly I want to address something with
the playstation 2 yeah i'm bringing back
a day here up there were many things you
could do with the original Xbox
Playstation and gamecube that many
people weren't privy to do to the fact
that the internet wasn't so plentiful at
the time and nowadays you have jtagged
xboxes and things you can do with your
playsation and all kinds of different
things you can do jailbreaking even
cellphones can basically be modded out
but what about the game consoles yes
so starting with the playstation 2
pretty simple modification that you can
do is install a hard driver do you
but you know it sounds crazy honestly
but you can actually install a hard
drive on your Playstation too many
people aren't privy to this information
and this isn't a how-to guide by no
means is a how-to guide and I would like
comments down below if you'd like to see
me show you how to do some of these but
then again you could just type in
YouTube right now instead of waiting on
a video for me so if you hear anything
that you like
you were interested in doing just do
that youtube is a great source for how
to edit things fix things mod things
just check it out after hearing this
stuff but yes a hard drive can be
installed on the playstation 2
eliminating the need for memory cards
were just outright losing a lot of your
dad now while hard drives are still
volatile i find that memory cards do
break a lot sooner than many hard drives
especially hard drives that are
passively used so if you don't use your
playstation 2 a lot but you do play it
every so often there is a hard drive mod
for it also there's also a DVD Drive mod
for your gamecube but I think that's
kind of behind the times and I don't
think many people would go through the
effort but moving forward a generation
there are mods that you can do to your
xbox 360 as well to expand your hard
drive and storage needs basically one of
the most common ones that you can do for
the newer generation 360 is not being
new West but the newer generation to
where they updated the way it looked
completely not the old fat ones you can
actually update it with a different hard
drive as well now while that one does
have a hard drive you know there's 120
gigabytes to 500 gigabytes and those you
can put in an SSD which would do wonders
for your system but with the disclaimer
anything online based will still be
basically restricted by the online
connectivity of the console itself it's
not exactly the best thing in the world
but there are modifications that you can
do to the old fat white ones as well do
you have a heating issue crack that
sucker open and put some thermal paste
on the cpu and GPU maybe you're not that
tech-savvy well you can always get a
couple fans large please do not get
small fans if you get real tiny fans
you're only hurting yourself guys get
big fans 120-millimeter 140 millimeter
get big fan
and just drill a couple holes pop them
on the side cutout the plastic and boom
give yourself some extra cooling it's a
pretty simple mod and you definitely
want to filter to prevent dust from
getting in there but that's something
you can also do
and speaking of dust don't forget to
blow out your consoles guys just because
they're not pcs and just because you
can't open a month doesn't mean you
can't take a little bit of canned air
and blow all the dust out of there nine
times out of 10 when I've heard of
console dying or overheating too much
it's because there's so much dust inside
the other one time it's because the
thermal paste has dried out and just
need to replace consoles will last quite
some time i still have an old fat
playstation 2 that works 100-percent
perfectly and I try to maintain and keep
it as well as I possibly can and i
encourage you guys to do the same but
hey let's stop talking about prior
generation consoles let's move into the
newer generation with your xbox one
there's quite a lot you can do
first off if you don't leave in like
cracking open cases and getting inside
of it
that's perfectly fine i have things that
you can do for your xbox one and you
will have no issues at all
now all you need is a nice fat hard
drive i strongly suggest that you get a
three to four terabytes 12 terabytes
work also you really want more if
possible
basically all you need is an exterior
hard drive an external hard drive within
a shell if you want to shell your own
internal hard drive there are kits for
that on ebay but you can always just buy
an external hard drive with some amount
of room on it I do not suggest an SSD
just get a traditional hard drive and
you can basically make sure to get
yourself a USB 3.0 and it just pops
right in its very simple the most
basically you can do just plug it up to
the back their support for to you can
put up the two hard drives which is why
I suggest just getting one and making
sure that it's a four terabytes but
again
disclaimer make sure that it does not
require an external how
our source because once again if it
requires that the item itself power it
then that could draw too much power and
it might not work properly so be aware
if you're using a hard drive that
requires a massive amount of energy it
may not work with your xbox one
those are some radical cases but it does
occur with my current pc on the front us
because there's not enough power going
to them to power an external hard drive
so be aware of that when you're doing
that sort of thing
there are soon to be things coming out
from Nikon where they have just a hard
drive that you can slap on top and it
looks like a tumor
it looks like a tomb i'm sorry i'm not
making fun aiko they make some cool
stuff sometimes they make some stupid
stuff that's it looks like a big fat
tumor sitting on top of your playstation
4 and xbox one that's not good
as far as mods go you can mod the xbox
one hard drive but I wouldn't suggest it
because it takes a lot of looking around
and getting the exact stuff that you
need for whereas the playstation 4 is
significantly easier so please until
there's a more streamlined solution for
an xbox one hard drive upgrade i would
strongly suggest just buying the biggest
hard drive that you can possibly get one
terabyte internal is just fine for the
xbox one it does eat up memory a lot so
that one terabyte won't work forever but
it's a good solution for now but as for
the playstation 4 you can actually
replace your own hard drive it's not
that difficult very simple and once
again i would suggest using an SSD again
disclaimer if you are playing an online
base game your load times your sign-in
times your times where you're waiting
for something to stream to your
playstation 4 will be completely reliant
on your internet connection and not your
hard drive speed however starting times
will be cut down significantly in many
cases people have seen startimes reduced
by half
from switching from the traditional hard
drive in the console to an SSD these are
things that you should think about if
you are thinking about upgrading now
once again you just need to know how to
do it and there are plenty of guys out
there there are guides that do not
require youtube search there are paper
guides and of course you could always do
it yourself with the support of sony's
website which allows you to download the
firmware yourself and do it all yourself
not a big issue now the final upgrades
that i will suggest to you from the xbox
one to the PlayStation forward to the
wii u even is the fans as i said before
do not buy small things don't buy small
things and thermal paste don't buy cheap
thermal page get icy diamond nice
thermal paste make sure you do your
research by the best you can get because
once you do it you're not going to want
to do it again inside the xbox one there
sits one large fan it's pretty big
honestly and that's why the xbox one
remains pretty quiet comparatively to
any current pc your personal pc thats
not personally modified so it's very
quiet because it has a larger pan and
even larger heatsink that the fans it's
on it's really nice man I'm telling it's
probably one of the best decisions
microsoft has made any long time but if
you feel the need for a more cooler
better xbox one you can always pop the
top off pull that heatsink off-putting
new bit of thermal paste down as well as
a new fan as long as the fan is
100-percent compatible that's something
you would personally have looking but
it's very easy to do
there are low profile fans and heatsinks
that you can also install if you're so
inclined as to do that though I'm not
personally super comfortable with that
we're recommending that so that's really
buyer beware if you're interested in
doing that that's your own thing
as far as the playstation 4 goes it's a
bit more compact it has a smaller fan
and even though it's smaller it's not
that much louder but it's just one fan
as well and it keeps the cpu and GPU
combination a little bit cooler as well
but again the same premise goes the same
way if you're interested in keeping it a
little bit cooler and running a bit
smoother you can always replace the fan
in the thermal paste remember coming
from these factories they get the most
generic 'part regarding that so don't
expect the best thermal paste in the
world it might last you 10 years it
might last you 10 minutes it just
depends on the application process and
how well the certain person building
more playstation 4 did and taking apart
the playstation 4 is relatively simple
but for some people it might be
intimidating so this upgrade is not a
100-percent must have but the SSD will
guarantee you way better boot times way
better performance and much less leg in
your system overall that is if you don't
like doing things online that much so
once again guys these upgrades they're
out there the same thing applies for the
Wii U but the wii u doesn't have a hard
drive it relies on flash memory why it's
really quick
it's not exactly the best idea for
storage needs but it's still there and
it's still fast and as for the fan well
good luck putting on a bigger fan inside
the wii u sighs kind of constrains that
guy's you have to remember to match up
parts exactly so if you can find a
better aftermarket part that fits
100-percent perfectly by all means try
it out but that is if you have the money
and you don't mind voiding your own
warranty because you definitely will
avoid it if you open that system up
again looking back to the beginning guys
pcs consoles they both have their ups
and downs
we're opening a console up and mining
and out my void the warranty and it
might die tomorrow and you would not
have anything on your hands to fix it
with or do anything with it anymore
because you voided the warranty a pc
wouldn't do that you might be able to
crack your pc open and not void the
warranty and do whatever you want into
it i know some graphics cards that allow
you to replace the fans and put a water
block on and not void the warranty that
is in saying so it's really dependent on
you ladies knowing what you want out of
your consoles do you want a better
streamline experience you want something
that's a little bit quieter cooler and
run smoother or do you just simply want
more storage space
