Hi todays Mac tip is going to be
on how to use the dictionary pop-up
feature of Yosemite
it's already built in so there's nothing
for you to really turn on
you just have to know the keyboard
sequence to use
and exactly how to highlight a text
word
in order to be able to see the
dictionary feature so
first on this little keyboard that I
have we have the control key which
is here
the command key and the D key
those three keys have to be pressed
while
you highlight a particular word so here
I am in a web browser
and I'm going to you put my mouse over
the word abridge and as you can see it
turns to from
a arrow to a hand I'm going to hit the
control command
D key it will turn it yellow and a
dictionary will pop up
right then and there which shows me
the thesaurus version the regular
dictionary
interpretation of it as well as the
Spanish English in the Wikipedia
so this works really well any text file
but it also works on anything on your
desktop so for example
if I click on maverick and I actually
get into the text area
where I might re-name it, hit control
command and D key
it will also turning yellow and give me
the dictionary meeting of maverick
and that's really just a text file
anywhere so it's kind of cool feature
and if you do a lot of reading online
and you want to look up couple words
it's a great thing to use hope you
