Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today, I'm going
to show you how to lock a wireless router.
Let's begin by pulling up our wireless router.
In most cases, your wireless router can be
accessed by going to the Internet and typing
in for the address 192.168.1.1. Just press
enter. It's going to come up asking you for
an administrator login. By default, many routers
are admin and admin. The very first thing
we're going to do is change our admin password
on the router. Click on Administration, and
here is our router password. Let's make it
something else. After we've changed the password
click down here at the very bottom to save
the settings. If any messages pop up about
security just say yes. Next, we're going to
lock down the wireless to where it requires
a password to login. Let's click on wireless,
and we'll have to retype our new admin password
since we just changed it. Let's go to wireless
security, and in security mode let's generate
a WEP key. Let's type in some sort of pass
phrase; I'll just do my name, and say Generate.
What this has done is generate several WEP
keys that we can use. You'll need to write
these down and keep them, or else you won't
be able to access your router wirelessly.
It's going to pop up asking for that WEP key
when you try to connect. To save your settings,
simply click Save Settings down at the bottom.
My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed
you how to lock your wireless router.
