I'm an intermediate user, not a novice, but I found it made controlling processes much easier. Manage what's running, permanently block undesired processes, manage startup programs, all from one place, easily. I ended up removing/blocking quite a bit of stuff, including some malware adaware and norton didn't pick up, and improved my PC's performance noticeably.
