ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter is a full MP3 converter that offers a healthy set of customizable settings. The developer, ImTOO Software Studio, offers a 30-day money back guarantee.

Conversion Features:
ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter only supports two output formats: WMA and MP3. That fact alone drops it down to the lower tier of the reviewed MP3 converter software, all of which support at least four or five output formats. Being so heavily restricted in terms of which formats you can choose only puts users at a disadvantage. Some platforms and programs can’t play WMA (anything Apple, for the most part). MP3s work on the majority of machines, but that format’s quality isn’t always the best – even when settings are pushed to the highest limit.

When converting to MP3, users can choose different bitrates (both a minimum and maximum). Additionally, the Mode (Stereo, J-Stereo, Forced Stereo, and Mono) is specifiable, as is the Quality (a range of 1-10).

Further, with MP3s, users can choose from a variety of VBR Methods as well as the VBR quality.

The settings for converting to WMA are far less extensive. In fact, the only thing users can change is the bitrate and whether they want to retain the Digital Rights Management and enable “On the fly MP3 Encoding.”

Additional Features:
ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter supports extraction of audio from video. It’s a laudable feature and a welcome inclusion that spices up the MP3 converter software.

Interface:
ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter is another piece of MP3 converter software that seemingly did not invest much effort in the aesthetics of the interface. Apart from the dark blue bar across the top, everything is shades of gray and silver with gradients to add a bit of depth.

The skin is changeable, however, and using the “Classical” one adds some futuristic touches, but the colors and overall design retains its cold style.

File, Settings, Tools, and Help sit above the main window where the content lies. To the right of the content are options for handling files in the main window, such as adding them and moving them around.

On the bottom, users can select the encoder and output folder, as well as have access to further conversion settings.

Ease of Use:
Because the MP3 converter is so sparse, navigating and operating it is extremely easy. The shallow customization options only lead to users having a less complicated experience, so the program works wonderfully for users with limited knowledge of audio formats. No icons preclude visually-oriented users from navigating that way, but as long as you can read, you’ll understand how to achieve the desired results without too many hiccups.

The program worked efficiently and quickly on Windows 7; no crashes or freezing were encountered.

Support:
The internal Help section is only a broad overview of the program. It doesn’t contain any sorts of guides, tutorials or information about the different formats and settings like bitrate and frequency. Apparently, the developers of ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter want their users to uncover all that information from another source.

Their website does contain a guide for converting, although the entire guide is only 67 words – and that includes “Step 1: Add Files” and the other headings.

There’s one email address for personal assistance.

Some forums exist for further support, but they’re not on ImTOO’s website. Instead, they’re supported by other sites like club.myce.com.

Summary:
The extreme simplicity of the program, both in terms of aesthetics, customization options, and output and input formats make ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter very easy to use. However, for users who desire greater intricacy and control over the conversion process, as well as greater quality and management over how their music sounds, other pieces of MP3 converter software offer more features and options.

Easy to use and fast but unstable

ImToo WMA MP3 Converter allows you to convert WAV audio files to MP3 and WMA and also extract audio from video files starting with OGG, AVI and ending with MP4 files. When converting to MP3, the settings allow you to select the encoder, the output bitrate, stereo, mono, Forced or Joint stereo, sample rate, VBR method and on-the-fly encoding.

Pluses:Supports batch encoding ad drag-and -drop function.

Drawbacks / flaws: Unstable, as it crashed a few timed after the encoding process ended.

In conclusion: Easy to use and fast, but unstable, at least, this trial version.
