For years I've been organizing my DVDs & CDs in a heavy zippered binder in random order (I hated not being able to categorize anything without having to shift each DVD!). I finallllly found a new solution for my DVD collection that's functional (and space-saving), categorized!, color-coded, and visual! All of the organizing elements for the perfectionist and creative in me :)

Hi everyone. It's Alejandra. And in this video,
I'm going to share with you guys how to organize
all of your DVDs and your CDs that you might
have inside of your living room, family room,
or wherever you keep like your media and stuff.
So if you don't have a lot of space but you
have a large DVD collection then you want
to try and organize them in a way that's going
to maximize space and kind of condensed the
collection.
So to show you what I've done, I have lined
up all 125 DVDs that we had and I lined them
against the wall to show you like how much
space they take when you just keep them inside
of the case. What I've done to kind of maximize
space and kind of condensed the collection
is I have taken out all of the DVDs from their
cases and I've transferred them to poly envelope
DVD sleeves just like this and I've color-coded
them into the appropriate category and then
I put them inside of this media bin and then
I labeled them by category.
So I actually have 125 DVDs in here. So you
can either have this 62 inches in height of
DVDs or you can have something that's small,
easy to carry, easy to find exactly what you're
looking for just like this sitting inside
of a shelf in your living room or inside of
a drawer in your entertainment center or wherever
you keep your DVDs.
So I have like romantic, action, comedy, video
game, educational. So you can kind of just
- you can see that OK, this is 125 DVDs here
and then this is 125 DVDs here. Like obviously,
this takes up a lot less space. So all I did
here was I went out and I got these sleeves
just like this. They're made by Memorex and
I got them from - I think they're from Target
and Staples. Both places have them. And they
come in five different colors like the colors
I showed you. They come in paper sleeves.
These are the paper ones. And then they come
in the poly envelope sleeves just like this.
The poly envelope, it's kind of like a plastic
just like this.
So I chose the plastic ones, the poly ones
because I feel like the paper ones over time
like they could just rip and tear and stuff
and then you have to replace them as opposed
to this one. I feel like it's just going to
hold up a lot better. This is what a lot of
people have and this is what I've had for
years and I feel like I'm finally going away
from this and I'm kind of excited because
you can't really categorize DVDs in this like
once you put them in and they're all in one
category, if you buy another DVD in that same
category like you have to move everything
into other sections and stuff and it's just
a waste of time.
So yeah, so it's very easy to find what you're
looking for in this and put your DVD away
in the right place. It's easy to add to each
category just by adding another envelope.
So once I found like what categories I have
for all my DVDs then I put them in the appropriate
color sleeve and then I took a post-it note
tab. I always show these things on videos,
but I just took one and I just labeled like
the top of the DVD sleeve just like that so
it kind of creates a divider to show you where
one section ends and the other section starts.
So I hope this video was helpful. I hope this
is going to give you a new way to organize
your DVDs if you are struggling for space
and struggling to get them in order. If you

I will see you soon. Bye!
