and the ugly about carbon and by the end
you'll know if carbon I backup solution
is right for you or if it's not

here's the rundown i'm going to give you
an overview of carbonite breakdown of
the security and accessibility features
of it the ease in the ease of use and
setup customer support the price for
storage and how much you get
and also i'm going to give you my
biggest gripe with carbon because i do
have a big big gripe with carbon I and
who is carbon I really for this online
backup service may or may not be for you

carbonite has more pricing options than
some of the other online backups the
they also have home office and small
business packages for those who you know

also they do have unlimited storage

some of the plans do not support mac OS
x so security and accessibility of
carbonite
they do have encryption the encrypted
data before it's even sent out your
computer to the facility and then they
encrypt the pipeline the tunnel that it
uses to send your data to the data
facility
it's in 128-bit Blowfish encryption and
to send it out to you it's a hundred
twenty a bit ssl secure a pipeline
encryption basically the same encryption
set that are online
basically financial institutions used to
secure their online transactions so it's
pretty safe pretty secure
they their data facilities also use
rates six which is an enterprise-level
redundant array system basically if one
of the servers one of the hard drives go
down your data is still safe because of
the way there is because of the array
that they set up just know that if
something fails
your information is still safe still
secure
it has sinking pretty standard in an
accessible mobile phone access it also
has a local cloud a local and cloud
backup of your data this is only for
carbonite home plus and home premier
basically it allows you to save a local
copy of your of your hard drive onto an
external hard drive

also they have a DVD recovery service
basically if you just uploaded 250 gigs
let's say of data and your hard drive
crashes it's going to take forever for
that i would say if i was going to take
a long time for that data to be
redownloaded even though even with
today's Speed this is going to take a
little while so I faster option may be
to get a DVD recovery and Carbonite
actually does offer this for some plans
you need to order it and it may be an
extra expense but they do have this
option
ease of use and setup is very has a
carbon that has a very simple restore
process the sinking is pretty pretty
easy pretty basic internet accessibility
is very easy very easy to use very easy
to restore mobile phone access as well
it is very easy to use a carbonate
mobile phone apps customer support this
is actually pretty interesting
carbonite has a live chat available to
the pay version is only does have a
knowledge base free for all are free for
all versions community

unlimited data storage the operating
system supported is mac OS x and windows
systems you get file and folder backup

don't don't think every and all cloud
backup solution has these features but
carbon I definitely does
external hard drive back up no you do
not have that with a carbon home or Mary
image backup and you also do not have a
quarry recovery service you may need to
encourage separate expense for this
should you need it is basically DVD
recovery i was telling you about
and also you don't have automatic video
backup essentially with carbonite home
you will need to manually select which
videos you want backed up and instead of
having the application do it for you
next is carbonite home + 99 books a year
one computer supported with this one
keep that in mind that's very important
about carbonite this the number of
computers that's that they give you our
support for the subscriptions backhoe
spaces are limited again but sorry For
You Mac users
this is not supported on the mac OS x
platform
next they have all the features included
except the the courrier recovery service
you may need to incur a separate fee for
this one and also the video backup is
not automatic you have to select
manually select what videos you want to
back up this could be a pain for those
who have a lot of videos and kind of
want to sift through them is something
to keep in mind
so carbon at home premier the annual
subscription fee is a hundred and 49
bucks a year again the number of
computer supported by this description
is one
and it's also unlimited data storage
I sorry again for You Mac users this is
the granddaddy home premier ultimate the
ultimate carbonite platform ultimate
carbon I plan is not is not supported
for mac OS x but it does have all the
features included including the DVD
recovery the core service and the
automatic video back up here some
pricing for pricing for the Carbonite
business plans
the business when it starts at 229 books
a year includes two hundred and fifty
gigabytes of backup storage for an
unlimited amount of computers external
hard drives and nasty devices business
premier starts at 500 gigs same thing
unlimited computers external hard drives
nass devices and it also the business
permit also supports Microsoft Windows
servers if you need any extra storage
space because as you see the business
plans do not have unlimited storage
you will need to buck up 46 bucks a year
for 50 gigs and 89 bucks a year for a
hundred extra gigs so my biggest gripe
with carbonite
here are some of the pros before I guess
the biggest gripe i do like to support
options not every cloud backup solution
has the support options so it's pretty
interesting if you have a problem you
want to know there's some way shape or
form that you can get the problem
resolved fast and efficiently
next they have multiple restore options
you can use carbon I our virtual drive
use the web or you can use your you can
order a DVD which is pretty cool
even though with today's a broadband
connection is being faster faster
it still is is still going to take a lot
of time to download you know I don't
know 250 gigs or a hundred gigs or how
many ever get you have it may actually
be a better option to order a DVD and I
it's pretty cool that carbon it has this
feature some of the kinds though I don't
like that not all the versions are
supported on max maybe an IT guy play
with Max I played pcs the fact that the
majority of their home plans do not
support macs really doesnt sit well with
me because there's all I there's a ton
of mac users and a ton of pc users at
this point
and yeah I feel that the version should
support both and also carbonite throttle
is your upload speed basically once
you've uploaded but i would say about
thirty five gigs
you could research this for yourself in
person - 35 days
once you upload 35 games they started
the router your speed down so basically
you can upload as much as you wanted to
as fast as you did before
once you hit that 35 gigabyte cap then
you start to your speech starts to slow
down as much as how much data you can
upload to carbonite data center which
can be a pain if you have a lot of stuff
over 35 gates to upload
so who is carbon I really for I feel is
really for home users and maybe college
students people who only have one pc or
one mac to back up
it is very very very very very cool plan
for those types of individuals
the fact that you can back up unlimited
amount of data even though they
throttled down as of this recording
even though they throw it down the speed
you still have unlimited amounts of data
storage available to you if you have
more than one computer then it starts to
get a little pricey and i would say a
home office maybe of three computers max
a kind of want to say to computers max
made outside of that is the price
there's other options out there if you
have multiple computers and it's also
for heavy downloaders those who have a
lot of files are ready i would say over
i would say about you know 30 gigs or so
of
of you know media photos videos music if
you have / but / 30 gigs and you need
some place to put them
I would actually look to carbon I it's
pretty good for a people who download a
lot of stuff and that have a lot of
stuff already
